TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY (NO WAY)

Hi guy's well here's what happened with the 55 plate black
Sti I nearly bought that's now on piston heads for 15k what a joke.
After asking loads of questions about the car to make sure there was no nice surprises when I got ther I will list our findings.
Engine leaking oil obviously been thrashed.
Water in boot & rust.
Only 1 key & no code to the keypad to override immobiliser (£300 - £390 for new key.
Only part service history stated full in ad.
No where near 400bhp felt more like 250.(print out was from 6 year's ago)
F/m intercooler corroded
5 previous owner's he stated 3.
Odd tyres obviously couldn't give a **** about the car.
Well pissed off 350 miles for F all.
Very nice looking car owned by a bloke who didn't have a clue if you're looking at buying it make sure you get it sorted before parting with your cash.

You need to post a link so everyone knows what car you mean.

Arrrrrrr link not working
Can't miss it 55 plate all black for 15k
I'll try the link again tomorrow.
Cheers.

Uncle Creepy 06 June 2016 12:36 AM

Here's the link to the original thread.

https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...ot-to-buy.html

Within it is the link to the original eBay advert. Basically, a nice-looking widetrack blob was advertised for £11,500, the OP was going to buy it, discovered it was a dog so didn't buy it, but Cheshire/Clive's Performance obviously did buy it as it's now on PH for £15k. And considering all the issues the OP states the car has, CP probably got it for a lot less than £11,500.

If the fmic is corroded, that's probably why they've sprayed it black. Do you reckon they've sorted out the other issues? :)

Royboy74 06 June 2016 12:50 AM

I doubt it very much it looked like it was possibly blowing oil from somewhere difficult to identify where from.

Royboy74 06 June 2016 12:54 AM

I'm still looking for a nice sti guy's so if you come across anything send me a link.
Cheers.

Very nice mate. I sold my first one 13 years ago now due to mortgage & first child & I'm not ashamed to say I actually cryed real tears
Time for another one now
It's scary stuff with all the dodgy geezers out there clocking & everything else. Would you but private or dealer ?

Flip I know how it is, I sold my Prodrive Bugeye STI to fund buying a house, I felt Sh1t for weeks :( though I've finally got myself another Subaru, its only a WRX, but at least its something :).

Ps, I think you're more likely to find an honest private seller than you are to find an honest dealer....

Royboy74 10 June 2016 11:42 AM

Well guy's I'm looking at spending about 10k if you see something worth looking drop me a line & what would you go for ?

SmurfyBhoy 10 June 2016 11:44 AM

Id let mine go for 10k ;)

Fancy an Evo.......

Royboy74 10 June 2016 11:46 AM

The one I'm going to see tomorrow has been dry stored only done about 500 miles in the last 5 years. Wrx sti type uk 04 plate silver 35k on clock. It's been stripped of rear seats carpet etc which screams track day car to me it was on pistonheads last week for 10k it looks realy clean 400bhp. It's not on now so can't send link.
Cheers guys.

Northernnick 10 June 2016 11:49 AM

a track day car is fine as long as its been looked after and maintained accordingly. Speak to the seller and see if they know their stuff rather.
Id happily buy from a private seller who track'd their car but looked after it :)

Royboy74 10 June 2016 11:53 AM

Royboy74 10 June 2016 11:55 AM
