ESL load scale mafless

Hi

Now that i finaly know how to calibrate the iat sensor, i am stuck  with the load scale.
The load scale sits at 12 idle, with maf it was 4.
Do i just change the load scale so that 12 is the lowest value?

cheers

you should find that you can hit the lower load point when gently touching the throttle at lower RPM's (say coming back on to power again after a low speed gear change).

im running mafless but dont have my IAT sensor plugged in, in fact i never had one at the time of mapping. my load on idle cold is 8. iat is set at 16Celsius.. its giving me a bit of grief when cold start due to no fuel compensation but when warm its fine. got the emerald sensor and a 1k ohm resistor so will be fitted this weekend hopefully.

I have been having a play with this today.
After my rebuild I put a couple of boost pipes on wrong, when I had the laptop plugged in the load was showing right up at 20,before it was on 4(First load column) on idle.
Before I realized what I'd done I had a play with the Maf sensor calibration, the lower the number I input then the lower down the table it got until it reached 4.

So having a look. My stock map is set to 23500 for Maf iirc
Now it's set at 14000 (maffless)
So lowering the Maf sensor calibration will move the load to where it needs to be.

Tnx guys for the info.
Gonna have a go on that today.

@Ossett2K2: can you post a pic of your maf calibration table.

ossett2k2 04 June 2016 09:56 AM

Sorry I ment to say Maf scale not calibration.
So it's the Maf sensor scale which is now set at 14000
Also looking at the calibration table then just one column has been changed from stock settings and that is at 4.38v which is now set at 45562.

I will get some pics up later if you still need.

A pic would be nice if it isn't to much fuss.

Finaly i have 4 weeks of holiday and can mess with the mafless setup.
i changed the maf scale to 14000 to get the load back where it needs to be.
Do i have to reset the ECU when going from maf to mafless?

@Ossett2K2: i changed the scale, load is ok but the car runs like crap on cold start, do you have the same problem?
Did you have to pull out a significant amount of fuel?

ossett2k2 18 July 2016 10:48 AM

Yes significant amount, make sure you only change the fuel values in Raw as it will run terrible and idle will be rubbish.
You can switch off closed loop and get your AFR as close as possible on cruise, reset the ECU to clear the trims. Have a look at the table before you do to see how they're looking.
Don't switch from Maf to mafless when the car is running.

Edit: It is all in the manual,Do you have a copy?

Luigi Noschese 18 July 2016 11:45 AM

I cant switch off closed loop, its the old ECU.
This makes things harder.
i pulled out fuel but not that much its 109 idle.
What if i feed the ECU a fixed lambda voltage of 0.45V, it would be a workaround for closed loop.
I have the manual ;)

bludgod 18 July 2016 11:56 AM

you can't switch it off no, but you can disconnect the o2 sensor and then reset the ECU to clear the trims :)

ill have a try, tnx

why did u change the maf calibration for mafless, i understand scaling change, this is a must, but why voltage?

I'm not sure why the calibration change?
The car was like this when I bought it,it had a 'pro' map
The calibration change at 4.38v didn't make sense to me but I've just left it.
Not had a good chance to look at the map fully yet.

Luigi Noschese 27 July 2016 02:56 PM

i only changed the scale.
