That blue window offering Windows 10?????

how do I get rid WITHOUT risking it doing the download?

With limited internet, and the need for this computer until the wife goes home, I can't risk it starting a download.

I've heard that clicking the close "x" now starts it, so what DARE I do?

TIA

my god , the paranoia - almost as tangible as the 70 mill strong Turkish invasion lol

LOL.

It's already sneakily installed on the wife's laptop when she clicked close. I can't let it do it here, because it'll use up my internet allowance for the month.

So no paranoia, it's real.

Microsoft turned the "offer window" from an "opt in" to an "opt out"

it did this by setting the update to "recommended" - most windows installations are set to download "recommended" update automatically

I'm not quite sure what happened with my desktop today. I've been happily running Win7 for a few years, but registered interest in Win10. I went out to get the car MoT'd and when I came back (with a pass :D) the pc was halfway done with a Win10 installation.
Bloody cheek I call it! :brickwall
