changing throttle bodies

hi guys, I just got a 2000 classic impreza, trouble I'm having is icv!
The one in the car has a 3 pin plug but yet I have a 6 pin plug with an icv in it just floating about, needless to say it idles pants until she warm!

Question is guys can I fit a throttle body which will accept the 6 pin icv to the existing manifold!

Its doing my nut in as cannot find any info!

Any help is appreciated!

Please guys someone must know

Your post doesn't make much sense have you got any pics

Basically buddy, my v reg Impreza has the earlier engine in it which has a different icv on it, it's attached to engine but nothing plugged into it as it has a 3 pin socket on it, the loom in the car has a 6 pin plug on it so it won't connect!

Is there any way ie changing inlet manifold or throttle body to solve this mate?

No.

Earlier engines use a solenoid type iacv. Newer engines with the 6 cables have a stepper motor iacv.

So you need a conversion looms and an ecu capable of running it such as syvecs or alcatek. If it were as simple as switch the throttle bodies I'd have done that when I did my avcs conversion.

Also the earlier iacv is mounted onto the inlet manifold on the RHS where as the newer ones are part of the throttle body

You have a bit of a problem then if I have this right.
If you have an earlier engine with phase 1 or 1.5 heads and your car is a 2000 V reg which should have phase 2 heads then you are a bit snookered. The inlet manifolds and how the ICV mounts are obviously different as mentioned above but the inlet manifolds are also longer on the phase 2 engines so you cannot even swap the whole manifold.
You may well be able to get the car mapped so that it will idle better without the icv other than that I am not sure if even changing the wiring will help as I am unsure if the ECU would be able to drive the older style stepper ICV.

Should have added while the later phase 2 throttle body may physically bolt to the manifold I am 99% sure inlet manifold wont have the chamber cut to direct the air to the throttle body mounted ICV.

Unless you have a syvecs or alcatek it won't be able to drive a solenoid type. Even then the alcatek needs modifying by alcatek to be able to do it. And I can safely say it won't drive as well as an oem one with the modded unit.

Mine is a pig to start and keep running if it stalls the alcatek takes 25 seconds to reset the iacv so you can restart the car.... if you don't let it reset then every time you go back to idle it will try and stall due to not enough air getting in etc. I have found by putting als on for a second you can reset it while driving though....

It can be mapped to minimise the issue my RA doesn't have an ICV and idles from cold if your mapper is good u can minimise the issue but not solve it

The problem is the resetting it. It intermittently stalls then you have to go through the whole process of resetting iacv

I don't I turn the key and drive it

Thanks guys I appreciate the response, u may even go down the road of sticking a later engine back in her, why would people wanna go backwards! Lol again thanks

Could this be a solution, swop the correct year Inlet on then?

I hope so mate, I hope someone can confirm, thing is wont Ecu be different still as I take it I now have an early Ecu and not the later one, where did you find it mate?

Inlet manifold adapter plate, I googled it. Someone like AS PerformAnce would probably be able to source one.
