Cutting out

Hi wonder if anyone can help me. I have an intermittent problem with my classic where sometime when it's warmed it it won't idle it just cuts out . It starts straight back up and drives fine and if drive it say 100yards up road then stop it will normally idle fine . I've cleanew the idle control valve out but it made no difference. Any ideas please .
Cheers jon

Does it have a dumpvalve?

what does it idle at cold, is it using more fuel at this time ?

I would suggest, first doing an ECU reset, take it for a drive and if it's still cutting out then check for error codes.
Could be Maf related,if you clean it then be careful as they are fragile.
What's the cars spec? Standard?

Thanks for the replies. It's a version 1 , 2 wrx if makes any difference
It has the standard recirc fitted to it .
Not to sure ill take a look a later and see . It seems to idle fine apart from the cutting out though.
It's standard apart from decat downpipe and full stainless system also has a cone air filter fitted and I'm running cooper spark plugs

Decat downpipe and cone filter, not a good idea when not mapped for these mods.
I would imaging your cars fueling is not good tbh,may have killed the lambda sensor(is this still fitted into the dp?)
Have you taken the plugs out?are they black and sooty?

All these parts have been fitted for quite sometime but yes I agree it does need to be mapped. It doesn't have the lamba in the downpipe just the pre turbo one . No ill check the plugs later

ossett2k2 20 May 2016 12:32 PM

As it's an early model the oem location for lambda would be in the manifold pre turbo as you say, some aftermarket downpipes have a boss after the turbo and some people relocate it.
I would do an ECU error check but symptoms sound like lambda(this controls cruise&idel)
Maf or ICV.

Edit: to add,,could also be a simple vac pipe leak, have a good check for split/cracked pipe work.

Thanks for the replies. No error codes have been logged and the spark plugs are not black at all. Pretty sure there's no vacuum leak but not 100% as ran out of time to check .
