Remappers told me I need these! Help!

Just been to Veizu Remappers near Stratford Upon Avon for a stage 1 remap on my 2004 Blob WRX completely standard apart from a catback and a K&N panel filter.

After being put on the rolling road they told me it needs a Wastegate Actuator as its presumed faulty/leaking and preferably a FMIC as the intake temp is very high.

Where do I buy a Wastegate actuator from?? I wouldn't know where to start as there are different PSI's etc which I have no clue?!?!

Also do I really need to change to a Front Mount as I here the standard wrx one is fine below 300bhp, would an STI Top mount be sufficient?

Any help would be appreciated as the maps been left on but the wastegate needs to be changed.

taylor85 19 May 2016 03:58 PM

A front mount is totally overkill for a standard lump

taylor85 19 May 2016 03:58 PM

My new age wrx intercooler on my classic is running 335 no prob

fat-thomas 19 May 2016 04:00 PM

Take it to a Subaru specialist mapper.

chris wheela 19 May 2016 04:02 PM

Cool, I'll leave it with the WRX intercooler then :) although I still have the big issue with my actuator :( what do i get?

rb5 stu 19 May 2016 04:54 PM

Id put an sti intercooler on it and get an actuator from a scrapyard . They sound like they doint know what trhey are doing.

rb5 stu 19 May 2016 04:55 PM

Demon tweeks do new ones if you want. The mapper can adjust it to suit.

^^^ good advice here.

alcazar 19 May 2016 05:34 PM

Get it mapped on the road, stop mucking about.

Bob Rawle, BRD.

Dubzy 19 May 2016 06:05 PM

I would highly recommend you take it to TDR in Warwick, They are a Subaru tuning specialist and only a short distance away. They will test your actuator for you and may well have a new or used replacement if needed.

A front mount will not compliment your setup and will just induce a load of turbo lag.

Call TDR 01926 403 889

http://tdracing.co.uk/

Gambit 19 May 2016 06:11 PM

as its wrx with TD04 turbo - just check/set the preload on the actuator
High intake temps are prob because its been sitting on rollers no doubt with no decent air flow

but aye take it to someone who knows!

gazney101 19 May 2016 06:18 PM

Take it back, tell them to take the map off and get your money back, then get in contact with one of the mappers above and job done:thumb:

chris wheela 19 May 2016 06:42 PM

Should have taken it there for sure :(

Can I get my money back if I get them to take the map off? I cant afford to keep getting it mapped at £300 a pop!

What does "check/set the preload on the actuator" mean?

Thank you for helping guys, I don't want to be taken for a fool! even though i am haha

Dubzy 19 May 2016 06:55 PM

Call Mark at TDR, he's a nice guy and if you explain your predicament he will check your car is running correctly and that the map is safe to use and will advise you regarding your actuator.

Did your mapper say what boost it was making and dropping off to ?? did u get a dyno printout ??

No print out, no figures were said. Only figures were the before figures which were 200bhp to the wheels which he said was "heathy".

Left there feeling defeated. I have emailed tdr and will be popping down there as soon as I can :) next week.

Take it back and demand your money back. It says on the website they have a no quibble refund policy.

Awesome, I'll be booking my reverse map on Tuesday morning and a new one at Warwick in the afternoon :) thanks for the help guys.

Tidgy 20 May 2016 12:45 PM

I wouldn't even bother to let them touch it again, i'd just ring em and tell em to refund your card

CharlesTuna 21 May 2016 12:01 PM

If you paid with a credit card you can dispute the payment if they're being funny about a refund.

Get a before and after dyno printout of power, torque, boost and afr when you go to TDR . . .be interesting to see the differences

I agree, looking at what they had now is just stupid, especially as my bonnets down on the run.

Meh that'll teach me, I'm there at the moment waiting for them to reverse it (as they said they had to) and I'm booked in to tdr at 2pm today :)

cookstar 24 May 2016 09:43 AM

I used to have a fan like that for my kids bouncy castle. :lol1:

fat-thomas 24 May 2016 10:48 AM

Haha they've got one of those Fisher price my first rolling road kits.

chris wheela 24 May 2016 11:06 AM

Haha I know right! Tbh I should have just stopped them there. They said you're intake temps are very high.... Hmm wonder why?! Surely it's not good for the car to be put through its paces with the only cool air it had is an asthmatic squirrel blowing on it..

**jay** 24 May 2016 12:59 PM

Wtf! My misses had a bigger hair dryer! My car would not go near that, be lucky to blow leaves off the driveway with that thing lol

Intake temps high?! No wonder as there is no airflow to the tmic what a bunch of cowboys!

Yep! What a joke aiming the fan no where near the intercooler lol!!!!

chris wheela 24 May 2016 04:03 PM

Well I'm back from TDR and there was no problem with the Wastegate, and obvs no problem with the intake temp!
Veizu could only get 201bhp!?! And TDR got 265bhp and that's on 97ron I should be seeing past 270 when using 99. Couldn't be happier! Very friendly and honest people who knew what they're on about. Will definitely be going back for all my work including my services as I trust no one else now!

Kaeo 24 May 2016 04:24 PM
