Exedy Pink box clutch given up
The car has done roughly 7000 miles since the clutch was fitted. 4 launches at santapod at standard power. 2500 of them with 411bhp, 350flbs, no launches yet.
The other day the bite point dropped very close to the floor and start juddering to the point where it's undriveable, so back off the road again. I'm assuming the pressure plate/release bearing has given up as it doesn't slip at all and is 100% fine when in gear. Should i stick to the pink box and put it down to a bad one or be looking at a competition clutch stage 2 or 3? |
Has it been giving off a smell and juddering in reverse at low speeds?
Seem to be hit and miss IMO, get an ACT...fit and forget and will handle what you throw at it |
Is the clutch fluid level ok? No leaks etc
|
No sure if excedy have dropped quality or its a fake but here loads of folk complaing about them, mine done many miles at over 460bhp and was only changed due to going more power and box was out so went twinplate but the exedy held up well for years and no judder.

Yeah, the fluid seems okay. I pulled the clutch fork bung out last night and shined a torch in whilst moving the fork. The release bearing is completely shot to bits, I can't really see what the pressure plate is like. We'll see when i take it all apart i guess.

25K+ miles on my Anti Judder Pink box and its fine.

There's an ACT single plate clutch that will handle that torque easily. The pedal pressure is higher but you soon get used to it.

My used pink box clutch suffered over 100 launches at Pod with 500+ BHP. I've just ordered another from AS for my Type R.

I'm pretty sure i bought it from Aztec, i can't really remember. i'll see what it's like when i get it out and make a decision/report back.
This ACT clutch people are mentioning, anyone got a link as i can only find american sites? |

Just to update, it wasn't a fault with the clutch. The clutch fork shaft bung was missing and the shaft had slowly worked its way out of the other side.
