Thanks pal is there anything i should worry about ive read sumat about the dump valves that there not good for engine sumhow

ossett2k2 15 May 2016 12:32 PM

Welcome along,car looks good :thumb:
Usually best to map a dump valve in,defiantly a good idea to map in a aftermarket air filter/induction,especially a good idea to get a 2.5 remapped anyway to be honest as they are know to be problematic.

jaygsi 15 May 2016 05:51 PM

Thought it wasn't possible to map a dump valve in?

Why not?
If running Maf then the air has been calculated by the sensor, you then dump the air out that's expected to be seen by the Maf,so would cause fueling to be out.
That's how I've always seen it anyway, maybe someone with more technical knowledge can explain better?

8ulldog 15 May 2016 06:41 PM

Welcome, any plans?

Guesty 15 May 2016 10:00 PM

Not as of yet i think the clutch is on its way out not slipping is there any way to find out ?

Peedee 15 May 2016 10:13 PM

What makes you think the clutch is on its way out mate?

Guesty 15 May 2016 11:13 PM

The pedal seems high and when im reversing on to my drive over the kerb its stinks also been out today init with a car full seemed like it didnt want to move but was reving if you get me with the excess weight

Ste333 16 May 2016 11:05 AM

BrownPantsRacing 16 May 2016 11:31 AM

Welcome! Nice car! :thumb:

Guesty 16 May 2016 11:53 AM

Thanks chaps :-)

Scooby_Lee101 16 May 2016 04:47 PM

Sounds like a slipping clutch to me. I just replaced mine in my blob eye with a exedy pink box, now all is great :)

Guesty 16 May 2016 06:06 PM

Its not slipping on boost though should i make garage change it as i bought car Saturday amd has 6month warrenty
Ive rang them today about a idle problem

Telf 16 May 2016 06:19 PM

Welcome Guesty.

Looks good, enjoy it.
Be warned, Fat Thomas will be along in a bit and tell you you shouldn't have bought it cos it has a crap 2.5 engine in it. Ignore him, he's a c,unit.

How many miles? Probably due a clutch anyway, depending on its previous life.

Guesty 16 May 2016 07:11 PM

38k mate and well i think il tell garage it slips cos i bougt it saturday they sed had full service too but coolant was low also too much oil init :/

salsa-king 18 May 2016 07:30 AM

hello and welcome to the Hatch club :)

coolent too low and too much oil in it? is that what they did? who sold it?
make sure they use the right oil!!!!
is it losing coolant?

fat-thomas 18 May 2016 07:58 AM

2.5...low coolant...run for the hills

lordharding 18 May 2016 08:14 AM

Low coolant is a worry
Why would anyone out too much oil in ?
Best do some basic checks for head gaskets and pistons I'm afraid
Clutch should not slip at 38k ona new hatch
Dump valve
Well I'm not going to lecture :D

Best post up more about this car
At least you have a warrenty

BrownPantsRacing 18 May 2016 08:59 AM

I take it you checked the oil and water levels when the car was completely cold? As the expansion tank expands and contracts water level as needed when warm.

Was it a Subaru garage you bought it from who serviced it?

Clutch smell would normally indicate clutch on way out to be honest. Could be possible, some have known to go at lower miles. Not riding the clutch when reversing were you? Best check clutch and brake fluid levels to be sure the fluid is not causing it!

Good luck.

Guesty 18 May 2016 12:45 PM

Cheers chaps yeah a subaru specialist and car was cold i topped coolant up and its okie now not dropped yhey mustnt od topped it up on service and tbh i was trying to bump up a kerb so i could of been.
How do i know what oil they used and what checks should i do to make sure cars good ?

BrownPantsRacing 18 May 2016 12:48 PM

When the car is cold, take the cap off the header tank (left hand side of inlet manifold) and check the water level is right to the top. If not, top that up. If it's low it could be a sign that your losing water under boost and your head gasket is on the way out. Monitor the water levels very carefully over the next week to see if the levels in both header and expansion change day to day and let us know.

Guesty 18 May 2016 01:02 PM

Is that the one next to expantion tank on front mate i checked that it was full to top with green coolant

BrownPantsRacing 18 May 2016 01:06 PM

Nope, that's the rad cap. But best to check that too. You'll have two high pressure caps on the system with orange stickers on them. One actually on the radiator next to the expansion bottle and 1 on the high pressure expansion tank to the left of the inlet manifold. Check both WHEN VERY COLD to make sure they have fluid.

Okie cheers mate il check that today when im home as i dont use car for work so its my toy bet i dont do 2k mile a year haha

I bought a a standard blow off valve last night fitted it and tried car and it seems to be boggy with standard one like when i press rev it bogs then revs

Whats best standard or the forge one thats fitted the noise dont bother me i just want to know that the cars is good and not guna cause any issues

Cheers dave

BrownPantsRacing 18 May 2016 01:11 PM

That's the one! Should be full to the top or at least no lower than half inch or so from the sealing lip. If lower then you either have an air lock or start of HG failure.

BrownPantsRacing 18 May 2016 01:12 PM

Won't cause any running issues changing dump valves. The standard unit is better than the forge vent to air unit for the car.
