Now it's coming into summer what's types of waxes/ polishes do you guys use ?
To give you the showroom shine. Today someone had to explain to me what a clay bar was :wonder:

I did mine at weekend , washed then clay bar then a polish with poor boys black hole .also my car is black come up very nice

For my black blob claybarred then dodo juice purple haze, comes up nice :)

I use Collinite 476, It's really nice to use and buffs of easy. Also the water beading last for months.

I've he just started using finishkare high temp paste wax for everything. Wheels, brake calipers, lights, glass and paintwork. It's been great, lasted ages and good beading.

For my interior the MADCOW Mango Sauce I think is lovley, smell and gives a clean no shiney finish.

Those clay cloths do look good, have you got any pictures of the end results...

We've tried many types, even showroom shine, although have stopped using showroom shine. Open to other idea's.

Might invest in one on them clay cloths myself

My mate had a cloth bar but how do you get the grit and crap off the cloth ie how do you get a fresh bit of cloth ,, you fold a clay bar to make sure your not rubbing the contaminants you have taken off back over the paintwork but how do you do this with the cloth as it doesn't fold ?

+1^^^ I've just done mine started with tar remover, clay bar, Polish, wax then sealant after with my preferred choice autoglym professional worked a treat :thumb:

If you are claying your car with clay or a clay cloth, unless you follow it up with polish afterwards, the car will look worse than before due to the fact you are rubbing contaminants in the paint. Clay cloths cause more marring that standard clay. A light polish should get rid of most marks left by the claying process.

Nice, I love FK1000 and was using it until I had a professional paint correction last month.

The main thing is to polish to try and sort the swirls and then wax. I'd go with Autoglym SRP and then FK1000 or Purple Haze (got a tester for later in the year)

I may have, but you couldn't see from the photo how smooth it makes the paint work with such little effort, add a wax to the paint work and you're sorted :)

my Scoob is silky smooth.

I have a DA polisher too, but TBH.. you go swirl free.. then after a while swirls do come back and you can start getting parnoided about seeing swirls on your car and everyone elses.
It fine if you don't wash and drive your car though.. having a show car you can keep it swirl free for longer.
So don't worry about it ;)

So how often do you clay your car? I'm already accused of loving my car more than my family so I'm trying to resist the urge to get too into detailing.

only once a year... once I'd done my car, it doesn't need doing all the time. I mainly do it start of the show season.. around now.
But i have to say my car is washed a lot.. waxed or a quick detail spray and always dried with a micro fibre towel.. the large blue ones the clay cloth company sell are really soft and nice.

it's easy to keep clean once you've done the ground work ;)

I do like the angel wax stuff... the desirable is £60 a pot... makes the car's paint work smell great... it's easy on and off.. great results.

But lets face it, if you use something that makes your car look shiney.... it's doing its job... and do we need a wax to last 6-12months when you may be waxing it every couple??? lol

After years if been happy with chemical guys 50/50 I am currently useing
Fully clay bar /machine polish as necessary

CG blacklight 2 coats

CG 50/50

Then
Anglewax
Then sealed with V7
And Anglewax glass cleaner and CG trim cleaner
Find Anglewax is really good and at £60 a small pot value for money as it lasts for ages
I use CG Glossworks shampoo for its weekly wash

As owner of the Clay Cloth Company, clay cloths when used correctly do not cause any marring. Marring can only occur if insufficient lube is used.

The second comment to address is you are not rubbing contaminants into your car - the clay cloth is removing contaminants. When rinsed regularly in clean water, contaminants are removed completely from the clay cloth and the process continues.

Polishing and waxing is always advised to rejuvenate and protect the paint.

The Clay compound is not thick enough to completely absorb contaminants, however it is more than thick enough to extract them and hold them until the cloth is rinsed in warm clean water - contaminants are then removed from the cloth and the process continues

It's already been said but if you put in the ground work, then keeping it clean is a doddle. Plus, if you have the correct washing method, then swirls won't come back! I've clayed mine ones since buying it beginning of Feb this year.

My weekly clean consists of a quick foam, wash, dry, quick top up of the sealant and it looks like this and has a real deep shine:
