Picked up 2 weeks ago,

Got it back from the garage last night. Its had a uprated fuel pump, boost solenoid, compression test and health check, full service and a few bits sorting. Next on my list is the engine bay - hoses and a deep clean. All come back good my mate said it was a pleasure to work on because it hadn't been messed about with. In the winter its going over to bodyworkz for a full respray. Running around 320bhp now at 17psi standard turbo and intercooler

Picked up an intercooler from pole position, never knew it was there, great bunch of guys. Needed a little TLC so I flatted it all down as the paint was pealing off and sprayed it with some old silver metallic paint had a bit of a go at straightening all the fins too :thumb:

Fitting next week just waiting for hoses and recirc to come

- Sort out the nasty radiator
- General metal polishing under the bonnet
- Then front end respray

So...... My vf28 has decided to die!

So excuse to order vf34, 660cc injectors and all new visable engine bay bolts :)

Had to engineer a custom bracket for coil pack as its too close to intercooler even with pegs cut down.
and my new slam panel on paint track will be fitted this week

The bracket I had to make...

Hi. The intercooler looks like a nice job. I've one in mine that needs painted but was planning on leaving it till winter along with a list of other stuff.
Does it need to be high temperature paint?
My vf 28 was noisy so I opted for a vf35 simply because they are easy to get hold and I'm pleased with it. One thing I would say you need is a turbo blanket as your intercooler sits above the turbo now. I found that after a run out if you opened the bonnet, the intercooler was warm above the turbo but it's a lot cooler with the blanket.
I also made an under tray to fit the new cooler which helps
Best of luck with it.
Nice car

Hey mate and thanks. I never considered a turbo blanket could be a good idea yeah or some sort of shield. I didn't use high temp paint no, it's literally some spray I had left over from one of my furniture projects ;).

So the cars made it down the road to my new pad and its now in bits in the garage, at the minute the manifold is off, cooler and turbo. Got new intake as the old one is split. New turbo oil pipes and new gaskets fluilds and usual stuff all round. Having the car in bits has given me a chance to get some polishing done and go over the internals! Pictures to come soon as I get my wifi back

Itching to get it back up and running. Love walking into the garage every morning and looking over it ❤

Quick question, does the OE strut brace not foul the IC? Im assuming the IC needs to be sat a tad lower to accomodate?

Ned Han 27 July 2016 10:20 PM

The sti cooler sits low enough so it's ok. If you look for a thread on here is a good guide though you won't need to worry about moving the coil pack. It's easy enough to follow.

We had a nightmare sitting the IC in to be honest. Its not that easy, the guide is good yes but I tried to follow it and mine still didn't fit, hence moving the coil pack. It doesn't foul it no, soon as the cars all back together ill put some closer pictures on :)

^ I didn't think I would have to move it either but I had no choice unless I got a slimmer recirc. I followed the guide your on about cut the pegs down to their absolute minimum and it still did not fit at all

So bit of an update, the vf34 doesn't fit straight onto my downpipe the mounting bolt is slightly out of line so its gone to turbo technics for a new exhaust housing and wastegate bracket. Manifold is cleaned up and back on the car everything regreased, cleaned and new heat gaskets fitted, done some more polishing but now were stuck till the turbo comes up

Stunning, especially in white. Supras are one of my favourite old-skool cars. Lovely pair of cars you have there!

Ned Han 29 August 2016 08:57 PM

Yip. I'm jealous alright.
I got the p1 but never got round to the supra.
Very nice mate
