Impreza hatchback grille badge

Does anyone know if the chrome surround on hatchback impreza grille badge separates from the badge itself?

It does with difficulty :D

I usually drill a couple of small holes through the back (carefully avoiding the stars), warm the whole thing up to soften the glue pad and then push apart with a welding rod through the holes until it separates enough to use a trim tool to prise apart.

How is the whole badge attached to the grill want to remove the whole thing and put it on a carbon grill

Probably just glued in place, like classics are.

The OEM equivalent of 3M double sided adhesive pad.

ok cool thanks

Well, I got it wrong :(

I described the process "off the top of my head" but described the process for the rear saloon badge (and possibly the hatch).

Went and found some early attempts and the Grille badge uses one double sided adhesive pad to sandwich the chrome surround between badge and the raised grille boss.

As the chrome bezel sits over a raised boss, it makes it difficult to prise off.

How do those two pins secure the whole badge to the grill ?

They don't they locate.

The double side adhesive pad covers the "badge" and the top and bottom tabs of the chrome bezel and its lip and sticks to the boss on the grille. As I said the bezel is sandwiched between the "Badge" and boss.

Grey represents approx coverage of adhesive pad.
