2010 Nissan Gtr or 2013 Rs6

Really toying with the idea of finally getting back in the seat of something I enjoy to drive. Nothing wrong with my focus ST but it was bought as a mathematical decision and not heart. Narrowed it down to the above, test drive booked for the rs6 this weekend so,

Anyone had the pleasure to drive or own both and offer some views and opinions on both. Things to look out for, must have options etc

Thanks in advance

Dat launch indeed !!

The GTR is a weapon, go for it.

If it's the RS6, it has to have that V10 was the pre 2013 ?

But who could knock back Godzilla

fat-thomas 04 May 2016 04:35 PM

Is it an everyday car?? If so the rs6 would surely be better as it has all the toys and actually just fits in a parking space.

urban 04 May 2016 06:02 PM

RS6 all day

B0DSKI 04 May 2016 06:56 PM

RS6 for me too.

Beautiful inside a real quality place to be. The GTR feels so cheap inside in comparison.

grahamc 04 May 2016 08:15 PM

Drive both and see what you think.... Im biased ;) Love my GTR and the longer I own it, the more I love and respect how good it is and its now a 6 year old model.

The other joy of the 2010 GTR is that there will be very little depreciation over the next few years.

Shaun 04 May 2016 10:19 PM

RS6 is like a barge in the handling department, and the GTR isn't exactly a light weight.

The RS6 is great as a great, powerful cruiser, but it's no B road blaster.

The GTR is more dynamic imo, by quite some margin.

Depends what you want.... drive both and you'll see what I mean.

Cheers for the comments. The car will be used as an everyday car. Always had a soft spot for a performance Estate (what better than the current rs6) and the gtr when it came out. Appreciate they are two different cars and definitely be test driving both, hard thing to do is get the feel for a car within a 15-20 minute drive. Guess it'll be which ever puts the bigger smile on my face on the day of the test drive

Thanks again

stilover 05 May 2016 04:39 PM

2 different cars though.

If it's a weekend toy just for you and the occasional passenger, then buy the GT-R

If it's for family, then RS6. If not for family, buy a 911 Turbo/GT3, or Audi R8.

Hopefully the OP on overclockers won't mind me posting a link but..

Might be worth a read.

Where are you based?

I knew in 30 seconds of testing the GTR it was for me

Well considering the rs6 in that thread posted has over 700 I know what one I would rather have.....

The GTR is so easy to upgrade. Guy I work with fitted new rods and pistons, 2x gt30, bigger injectors, syvecs and some circlip gearbox upgrade
and it made 908bhp at the fly.
He since fitted PPG and made 1100 bhp

That GTR looks awesome...
Audi to plain looking for me. (I am sure that attracts some people ,but if your getting a Super car then it needs to look it...) IMO

banny sti 06 May 2016 09:53 AM

Been in fud's stage 2 mrc RS6 was running around 730/730, the acceleration was relentless for a 2 ton barge, however it certainly feels its weight through corners and quick changes of direction.

It is a proper Q car though, we were 5 up and it still accelerated effortlessly, for me its the GTR if its just a pure driving car or the RS6 if you want a competent all rounder that excels on the big open road

yabbadoo4 06 May 2016 11:57 AM

as above i had a little squirt in my engineers rs6 running 500bhp, as banny said the acceleration was strong and for a big car it went around corners not bad but its not a car for the twisties. would it feel as special as a gtr? i doubt it.

The Trooper 1815 13 May 2016 11:55 AM

Having done a bit of very minor fettling to the underside of a GTR you can see were the money was saved. Very flimsy aero panels, under trays and the bolts that hold them on, they rust like fewk, a small fortune from the dealers but very popular upgrade kits are available from suppliers.

That being said once I was inside and it went off then the build quality issues melted away.

john banks 13 May 2016 02:07 PM

I had 2009 GTR and 2013 S8 together for six months.

These are very close to 2010 GTR and 2013 RS6 assuming the RS6 is on air suspension.

The Audi has much better gearbox, traction, interior, engine note, refinement, ride quality, range, slightly better economy.

The GTR has better much better steering feel, turn in when dry.

With a tune they are equal in acceleration and braking. The GTR would be more agile on track and have more lateral grip in the dry, but in road use, the compliance of the Audi and better gearbox and everything else more than make up for it.

Both power oversteer, surprisingly. GTR because of RWD bias, Audi because of sport rear diff that overdrives the outside rear wheel.

On want to thank everyone for thier input and advice but had a huge U turn. Drove past my local Mercedes-Benz garage which I pass everyday to work and they had a 2014 C63 AMG parked up. Figured I'd cheer myself up and have a test drive as they've always been a car I've wanted to own at least drive.

Anyhow test drive done and wow what a engine that 6.3 v8 normally aspirated lump is and the sound is something else. Sat down did some maths and it all worked out so deposit down to hold it, off it went to prep and 7 days later it's on my driveway.

Was owned by an 80 year old lady who had her driver use it when she felt the need for the AMG and then opted for the s500 the rest of the time. Only has 5700 on the clock, all the nice options other than the limited slip diff and I'm well chuffed. They threw in a full service although it was slightly over the point where they don't have to and an additional years warranty so I'm all covered for 2 years.

Will get some pictured up at some point but in the mean time I'll just enjoy the noise of the AMG V8 and the gtr and rs6 will just have to wait

So another car off the bucket list :)

Try to make friends with a tyre shop, you'll be visiting them more frequently than you have done before. :D
