I thought the v4 already came with the facelift dash.

It does. I think the OP means the clocks/instruments?

if so, there's a fair bit of wiring/rewiring needed, as the plugs are different and the wires don't go to the same places:(

You used to be able to buy a loom, but I doubt it now.

Surely you would just source a v4 clock set, got to be plenty knocking about second hand and they look the same once fitted if I'm not mistaken.

What's the reason for fitting op?

MY96 will be v3 , preface lift dash is also v3 ,

V4 onward is face lifted , aside from the clocks which are more than likely mechical drive and will need a bit of work to sort to electronic speedo , the dashes physically bolt to different points at the windscreen , you will need to either cut and relocate the tabs that are there at the minute or get the tabs from a donor car and weld or rivet them in the correct location , I believe the heater controls are operated differently between the two types of dash also, so you may need matrix also tho I'm not 100% on that

Plus the part of the dash that comes closest to the doorcards is different in the two models, so new doorcards...and then the switches are different...:(
