Quick Type R question

Are there any mechanical differences between a V6 Type R (in this particular case a grey Type R I like the look of) and a V6 Type R WRC (other than the roof vent)

MattyB1983 28 April 2016 04:51 PM

You mean V6 type R limited.... and no, both the same car under the skin.

bustaMOVEs 28 April 2016 05:56 PM

I think only diffrence was flap, plague, seats.

Tidgy 28 April 2016 06:24 PM

as above, v6 had a few tweaks over the 6, but that was present on both lim and non lim

TonyBurns 29 April 2016 02:42 AM

I think both also had quick rack steering, must have been wanting to get rid of them :o

Interesting stuff. So no mechanical differences on the Type R but some on the RA.

So is it not

My last Impreza was a V6 RA V Limited but not the STI version.

If I get another Impreza it will only be used occasionally (just want to have one :) and can't get excited enough about Evos - I'll miss the noise) but it has to be a classic and has to be either a V6 Type R in grey or V Limited or a V6 STI RA V Limited.

Tidgy 29 April 2016 12:26 PM

two doors is also a big clue ;)

lol, sorry couldn't resist.

v5 or v6 type r would be my choice ;)

v5-v6 difference's

Front splitter added
Rear spoiler made higher
Thinner rear quarter glass added

Also have to hold the clutch in to start a V6

EddScott 29 April 2016 12:39 PM

LOL well yes, there is the doors :)

I've had two 4 doors and would like the rarity of having a 2 door. Although an STI RA V Limited is likely to be cheaper to buy than a Type R - not that I'm not prepared to pay because I want a good example. Just think either version would scratch the itch if you know what I mean.

Might be time to get brave and start looking :)

Tidgy 29 April 2016 12:45 PM

yeah, i know a really nice one that was for sale, not the cheapest at about 12k but has had a rebuild and respray so is mint

banny sti 29 April 2016 05:55 PM

Torque gt have a mint version 6 type r in grey for 12k, standard with 60k on the clock

V6 Type R WRC only came in 74F. Came with Roof flap, blue dash, plaque and various seats (either blue fronts or v5/6 grey/red). Engine spec is the same however some came with upgrades underneath like pink sti lateral arms.

It's a V Ltd car not a WRC.

TypeR99 29 April 2016 07:26 PM

Sorry, I only read the original post

The RA ltd yes, not type r ltd. some 'early' type r had them as a option but apart from that no type r had quick rack

I've seen the car on their website and it's what started me off thinking about getting a Type R. Haven't spoken to them as didn't want to waste their time until I was sure it's the direction I want to take.

It's very much what I want - late version and standard. I think in the future, the more factory standard these cars are the higher price they'll command. I made a mistake about 10 years ago and didn't buy a Lancia Delta Intergrale Evo when I had the chance (at £6K would you believe) I don't want to make the same mistake again.

It says wrc so it must be lol.
The big letters saying limited says all you need to know.
Small writing is just a reminder of heritage

No you're wrong, it says WRC so it's deffo a WRC edition. Just like all V3 type R's are actually 555 editions because it says so on the seats :freak3:

:lol1:

Mine has the STi Quick Rack, it's Type-R 555! But as you say, it could have been added as a option. As far as I'm aware all Type-R's were hand built outwith the production line, so they were almost all spec'd to divisional customers spec and hard to find two the same.

Saw the grey one down torque gt a couple of weeks ago getting prepared for sale, and it's in lovely condition inside and out a very nice example

May have been an option then :)

MattyB1983 01 May 2016 09:40 AM

No type R had quickrack, even as an option. Later STI RA had quickrack as standard and early STI RA had it as an option.
