Rays lug nuts.
 

Would like to know the best dealer/trader to buy these off. I realise there all over ebay but some of these can be fakes. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Alloy nuts on steel threads are not a clever idea mate, they can come loose or strip the trade so not ideal! Yes they look pretty but you don't want your wheel coming off.

I'm a bit of a wheel nut snob, just something I'm a bit fussy about.
I got a set of Group N open ended Nuts from AS Performance, very nice and excellent quality, I complimented them with the extended studs, due to running various different sets of wheels.
Speak to Alyn at AS performance. Proper competition nuts not some fancy bling ones

I couldn't find a supplier I felt happy with for the Ray's lug nuts . . .instead went with the STi lug nuts from Scoobyworld . .HTH

I have a set of alloy nuts that were on my Rays GC-07j when imported after doing a few miles I got slight wheel wobble and found a few loose after tightening they did the same again!! As said above get steels

Alloy wheel nuts are not allowed in MSA competitive Motorsport for a reason!
They are unsuitable

Working on that logic, what does everyone think of these?

Fit inside Rays/Rota/XXR type wheels with narrow lug nut holes and are steel, not alloy. Much stronger!

Reason l'm looking is l would like a set of wheels nuts/lug nuts that wont give up the ghost after a few months, ie; either rust or the paint peel off or both. Got a set of AS Performance lugs on now are the rust as hell. Cant remember how long l've had them but l think its less than a year.

Had the ebay ones on my every day car for over 2 years now and they still look like new. No rust on the external faces on any of them!

I have Genuine rays nut for over 8 years now, no problem what so ever and I use my car daily

The neo chrome ones or the black ones on your daily brownpantsracing ?

Neo chrome on my daily mate. Still look like new.

What about Mcguard STI wheelnuts???

Yes zany there very nice but being a snob l've got a bug wrx and although l admit l've got some sti parts on it there not visible and l dont want to have sti nuts on me wheels, though l may end up having to if l can't the quality nuts l want.

How many times have they been undone and re-used ? I'm sure I've heard Alu nuts are to only be used once. Mine always seem to loosen not so as wheel would come off but not to correct tourque

I wouldn't be using any internal splined nuts on a car in this climate / or if car was used a lot - / but don't let me deter - horses for courses n all that :):facepalm2:

They have the same thread engagement length as standard Subaru nuts, same material grade, same seat angle, same torque capacity, so they fit and stay fitted exactly the same as standard nuts.

Sorry , you still have to insert your key into a internal socket / seen countless fails & round offs over the years due to crud , water ingress , over tightening / like I said ... Everyone has a opinion , thr not for me lol

Try there bud but I've seen them on tbay and they are cheaper than the sti branded ones but exact same if you know what I mean:thumb:

Also on a lot of the cars I accuired they had the tuner nuts like a spline going in as long as it's greased up right there's no corrosion and I never had a problem with them but if you want quality it has to be mcguard:thumb:

My wheels have been on and off more times than my crusty boxers and all the wheel nuts still look perfect as does the key! Besides, if you're that worried they do them as a hex key version. As you say though, each to their own mate! :)

Out of curiosity the people who do have these alloy nuts, what do you torque then up to?

Do NOT use alloy nuts with STEEL studs.

I have had first hand experience with studs snapping when using alloy nuts! These pictures were of my M3 back in 2013.

As alloy and steel have different material properties, they heat up and expand at different rates. Which causes one of two things to happen, the alloy nuts work loose and come off, or the steel is weakened and snaps!

DONT USE ALLOY NUTS WITH STEEL STUDS, EVER!
