Engine failure
Hi guys!
Need some advice! My 97 turbo 2000 engine blew up the other day, I was driving down the motor way and a slight knocking sound started coming from my engine, as I was on the motor way I decided to slow down and try come of at the next services or junction, before I could however my engine completely exploded with complete loss of power and smoke everywhere! I had to pull on the hard shoulder and get recovered! There a whole in what I think my manifold is and it's a mess! I just want advice on what you think it is, how much to fix and if it's worth fixing at all! Thanks guys, your the best! Tom! |
Tom,
Sorry to hear that bud, I think you may have had a conrod snap then punch a hole in your block and spray hot oil all over hot engine components . . .it happened to me last year :( however I did manage to drive 2 miles home on 2 or 3 cylinders . .Hardy old girl to the end :) sounds like a new engine needed :( https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...71b3a68211.jpg |

Just buy a new long engine, the uk2000 engine for the 97 wont cost crazy prices..
hire a hoist and spend a day replacing it yourself |
Were there any mods to the engine, turbo, inlet, exhaust etc and if so, what?
Pretty pointless rebuilding until you find out what caused it to fail. |
