Cruise control

Hi, I recently bought an 2006 Impreza WRX, and I'm studying if it's possible to install the cruise control without having it.

Does anyone has ever done? Any help would be great.

Regards

I've seen installs on Vauxhalls which look quite straight forward, but not sure about Impreza's, i can get all the parts needed, but looks a biggish job.

You can buy aftermarket kit's, easy enough to install if you're reasonably competent diyer, biggest pain was setting it up properly, did a few on Mazda's but it was many many years ago so no idea what current systems are like.

If I were you I'd contact a reputable car alarm/stereo fitting place and see what they have on offer and how much it costs these days, wasn't cheap at the place I worked for but we did it for the Mazda dealers who no doubt charged the customers a fortune.

I've donde it in 4 or 5 SEAT and Volkswagen, and it's "easy". You must only install de new wiring and new joistick, and connect de computer to configure the new settings and it's donde.

But, in the Subaru..... must continue studying

Thanks for everything, if anyone knows anything please share

If it's a cable throttle, forget it, they are unreliable.

If it's drive by wire, a dealer should be able to advise what parts are needed.

I've had the system fitted on two Vauxhalls, cost me £80 parts and labour each time.

It's drive by wire, must study ir better, but I think it's possible to install it.

Contact a dealer, ask for part prices, then ask for service and get a price for fitting/ecu tweak.

This being FHI/IM/Subaru, I'd bet on £££££

Hawk cruise control is all handled by the main ECU, so I bet the standard ECU has all the code needed. All you should need is the cruise switches themselves, a clutch switch a brake switch with dual contacts (maybe fitted as standard) and some wiring. See attached :)

Dealer will know.

Both my Vauxhalls were the same, both had the switches needed, (brake, cloutch), but needed a new stalk. They quoted me £80 for those, but quickly dropped it to nearer £40 when I pointed out I could have one delivered in a sealed vauxhall bag off ebay for that.

I then played one dealer off against another and got the job done including them telling the ecu to accept the new stalk commands, for £80 all in.

The Corsa doesn't get that much use, but the Astra goes for miles on French motorways at 80mph on the cruise control. And no worries about watching for les flics and their radars!

I think the hawkeye only have one switch for the cruise control.

It's the right one

I'm looking for information, but don't find so much, have yo done this sometime? Or know how to do it?

Sigh.

Yes, it's one switch, but there is another microswitch on the brake pedal, and a further one on the clutch pedal, so that touching either turns the cruise control off.

IF both are present, then it SHOULD be a case of:

Remove old stalk with no cruise control switch.
Fit new stalk with cruise control.
Ask dealer to re-programme ecu to "talk" to the stalk.

As I tried to say above.
