Lowering Springs on 05 STi
I have 2005 Widetrack STi with RB320 rear struts and standard STi front struts.
If I were to buy the Tein springs (below) which claim it lowers the car 35mm front and 25mm rear, how much would this lower the STi? I think there's a 10-20mm difference between the WRX and the STi, but just wondering if anyone's put lowering springs on theirs. http://www.scoobyparts.com/suspensio...-new-age-03-07 |
Hi bud do you not allready have the black prodrive (eibach) springs from a rb320 allready or are you running Oem springs the teins will drop your car on its arse to be honest I've seen one with the tein setup pretty low but then again I won't know till Saturday how high or low the prodrive rb320 setup is but it'll be comfy:thumb:

Buy the H&R's - far better spring, both height & ride for newage IMO. i had Eibach in it and took them out after 2 weeks.
I ran them with RB320 front struts & STI rears :) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps39f3f869.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps786f9e48.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps9c9de5e9.jpg |
This question keeps coming up.
So, I've recently ordered a prototype set, of sti lowering springs - 3 months for delivery. |

Bistein struts + rb320 springs 355mm front 365mm rear A, relatively, higher rear ride height, moves the roll centre rearward, increasing rear roll resistance. That, in turn, makes the front end roll more - helping turn-in response and reducing understeer, without the use of stiffer bars. You want the smallest bars possible, on a road car, to avoid 'roll-rock'. Roll-rock: If the spring rate is relatively low and the sta bar is too stiff, a suspension movement, initially, occurring on only one side of the vehicle, will be transmitted to the other side, inducing an unsettling 'roll-rock' motion. The inverted kyb struts have 60mm, very stiff front bump stops, as a form of pitch control. But this can give a bobbing ride sensation and understeer, on anything but flat, smooth roads. Even more problematic, if you've lowered the front, and not addressed the front stops. The handling, on kyb inverted struts, can be made more neutral, again, without increasing the rear bar diameter, with shorter, progressive front stops and stiffer rear stops. |

That doesn't look any lower than stock as I thought it would! I obviously don't want it slammed, but any car looks better being a bit lower.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...pse4228f5c.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps8e635ad9.jpg RB320 Springs are 30mm front, 10mm rear drop |
I now run the kyb struts with tein s tech springs on my jdm wide track got roughly 20mm all round drop from the sti springs no issues at all full geo setup is a must though once fitted

That looks awesome. What size are the springs? Or how much do they lower it?

Personally I think Imprezas look best at OEM ride height.
