Restoring morrets

Im going to have a few classic parts for sale soon to fund my engine repairs.
I have a set of morrets which have cibie lights, some of the reflectors are showing signs of rust and one of the inner light has a crack.
Is there any way to open these lamps up to sort/restore the silver reflectors and is it possible to get new glass for the cracked one?
I've recently seen a for sale thread with morrets that have replacement aftermarket lamps but would like to try and restore the cibies.

Cheers
Rich

I think I still have some spare inner glass, because I tried it myself. These were very corroded, so the reflector part literally rusted away from the glass. As for removing it easily, I'm not sure that would be possible without some high temps.
I luckily managed to source some new inners from a set of mondeo morettes I found cheap.
How were you planning on resorting the reflector anyway? I assume its a chrome plating in there.

Not sure how I was going to restore tbh joey, just looking for tips on how to.
Possibly put them up for sale as they are,I will have to have a think.

I used to have a saved search on ebay for old morettes for other cars. From memory, mk3 and 4 Escorts, Sierra's and mondeo's all had the same inners. You can sometimes pick them up cheap.

If I still had a classic with morettes now, I'd probably just fix the glass to the inside of the morette shell, and put a couple of LED's behind there for DRL's. They were always cool because those inners were an extra full beam, but with them being so difficult to source, there aren't many options.

Good luck with it.

AFAIK, they don't separate easily, the glue NOT being heat-softening.

You can still get Cibie outers, but they stopped making the inners some years back now.

There are ebay sellers that sell full kits of inners and outers, they are Hella and actually better than the Cibies they replace, especially the inners which use and H3 bulb, not the horrid h2. H3 bulbs can be safely uprated, H2 cannot.

I have heard of places doing re-silvering: the cost was disproportionate.

Ok thanks for the advice, will probably be end up selling them as they are,or look at hella options, hard to price up tho,but as everything I guess they are worth what someone is willing to pay.

If you have a classic, they are probably the second best headlight mod available.
