So my clutch is slipping...which one to buy??

Looks like my clutch is on its way out and a pink 6 speed exedy has been recommended by my local scooby specialist. Ive read they judder a bit from cold or until worn in? Anyone have any experience of this and is this one to go for or avoid?

Car in question is standard a blob widetrack with ppp with the only mod being a s/s cat back.

I replaced my clutch a few months back with the competition stage 2 clutch and lightweight flywheel from scoobyworx. Will handle above my power level and once run in it feels no harder than the standard. Good deal too

I would go Comp Clutch over Exedy all day long.

We have them all in stock also :-)

Another shout for CC Stage 2.

jonnyboy82 21 March 2016 05:04 PM

After doing some research I think a standard organic exedy will be fine. Im not looking for mega power.

I've been running an exedy pink box for a few years now (470 odd bhp) 450 ish torque , no issues !

AS Performance 22 March 2016 09:57 AM

Exedy "H1 pink box" and std factory style have no issues

over the years we have removed far more CC's than fitted

joe v3sti 22 March 2016 11:23 AM

Exedy are tried and tested, time after time. That would certainly be my choice

Hi all, thought I'd hijack this thread rather than start a fresh one for the same topic....

Anyway, looking for new clutch, probably gonna chuck a lightened flywheel in whil I'm at it. I've got a blob wrx with sti motor in running about 300bhp, do I go stage 2 or 3? I might up the power to about 350 at some point.

Stage 2 is more than enough :-)

veerinder9 15 April 2016 12:50 PM

I have competition clutch stage 3 and its a great clutch!

bustaMOVEs 15 April 2016 04:02 PM

There was a lot of bad press with CC a while back, but I'm sure the issues that they had have been resolved, which you always have niggles with new stuff.
I got one and fitted one, with all the neg feedback in my head I could of sworn my clutch was duff, after further investigation it turned out I had wrong clutch fork in which caused mad slip. Major schoolboy error I know lol.
But now rectified with new fork, I can say it's actually excellent clutch even for a daily drive, copes with power well (havnt launched it yet), some said the pedal can be a bit stiff, but I don't reckon so, it's just right for a aftermarket clutch tbh so as expected slightly firmer than oe but no way stiff.
Thumbs up from me.

Darrell@Scoobyworx 15 April 2016 04:16 PM

Comp Clutch is in my opinion the clutch to use now, they did have issues a few years ago all those now sorted and the clutches are excellent and as described by bustaMOVEs.

Slightly firmer but not much more than oem, great clutch for a daily drive that can take serious power

In stock :)

Darrell gets my vote too, excellent after sales with no quibble, as you may have seen on here previously.

P.s did you get bcs back today?

veerinder9 15 April 2016 04:33 PM

Depending on what power ur going to be at id go with stage 3. Oem feel and will take launches. I've launched on about 10 times now and it doesn't have that clutch burn smell after a hard launch nor does the pedal go all soft

Yes while listed as a stock clutch they will take more power than an oem standard clutch. At 300bhp it will certainly do the job.

Hi Darrel,

Just noticed this thread.. kinda started my own about the same thing.

been looking at the stage 2 CC clutch on your site with the flywheel also. My version 4 wrx sti is only running 300 Hp and i don't intend to run anymore power than that really.

Is it worth me going for the stage 2 or will the OEM replacement by CC do the job.. i use the car daily and have been umming and arring about the stage 2 but don't really see the need for a clutch that can handle twice the power of my car..

you also mentioned about a discount code. SN10 ? how much discount do you offer.

sorry to sound like a worrier but i am having lots of work done on the car and if i don't need to spend over £500 on a clutch and flywheel for the power i'm running it will help me alot. :)

also wondered if the lightened flywheel is a good match for the OEM CC clutch ? or better suited to the stage 2.

thanks.

At 300bhp the STOCK clutch from CC will be fine but it is on its upper limits of what it is designed for. The stage 2 is probably a better choice especially if you plan on upping power at all further.

We list them 5% below RRP then offer a further 5% with the code and you get 2% loyalty bonus also
