Clutches!! The slippery buggers....
 

So my ome clutch on my 6speed is now slipping under load :cry: can't really complain though 69k miles currently 383ft/lbs, and one or to launches :nono:
I know there are many factors to why a clutch can fail But I'm curious what clutch, mileage, torque rough idea of use ect people's clutches failed???

Depends how you use it. 69k isn't bad after mods... ;-)

My OEM clutch was just about knackered at 36k miles after running at torques figures over 320ft/lbs. Modding up to 420ft/lbs for the last 5k miles is what killed it off though.
69k miles doesn't seem like a bad life to me, but as said it depends how it's treated.

My STi 5's gave up at around the c.50k mls mark. That's assuming it was the original OEM one from factory (I acquired her as a fresh import from Japan - the first UK owner).

Now I've got a C.C. stg.2 clutch and it's still going strong since c.2012 running 384/349. But I do treat the trans. with sympathy - I never side step the clutch from standstill, and always get the wheels rolling before mashing the throttle. Even then, I can count on the fingers of one hand the amount of times I've actually 'launched', as such.

OP, is your 6sp the ultra low ratio JDM one? Regardless of UKDM or JDM, out of interest, is the 5th gear overdriven (for relaxed motorway driving)? Or is it also relatively short geared too, and therefore annoying lol?

Yes jdm low ratio 5th and 6th are short i.e.. Roughly About 3k rpm in 6th @70mph on motorway.

Mine was standard uk blob sti and started slipping about 60k, changed a few years ago for a excedy pink

Not sure how old the clutch is in my hatchback as it came with the car when I brought it but assuming it's still the original clutch its lasting very well as still got no slip and now running 530/515 but I don't launch it or anything as never needed to lol , not sure how much longer it will last but time will tell

Just to put add something at the other end of the scale, I think I might need a new clutch soon. Considering my Scoob's 19 years old (1997 Turbo 2000) with 106,000 miles on the clock and still on it's original clutch, I don't think that's bad going!

My 98 turbo 2000 is on 123,000 on the original clutch.....

Mines on 73k and about to be changed as its slipping under load.

I destroyed and Exedy clutch in about 6 months once. :D That's also the same length of time the geabox lasted. :lol1:

Got 7.5 years out of the clutch that replaced it, 230mm Exedy one. That only got replaced as the 'box was out. :Suspiciou

It took some stick, gave it death the day after it was fitted, did that 12.4 under my username, but was showing signs of wear.
