How can I tell if its a Euro Import???? Blob STi

Going to view a widetrack blobeye STi in crystal grey, and even though the owner says in a UK car, I have a suspicion it could be a Euro Import. Is there anyway I can tell its a UK car and not a Euro import??

Ive done a few checks and the car has come back as a WRX and not a STi? It has not been under sealed from the factory but done by previous owner, It has a alarm system thats been added recently and not a standard Subaru alarm, and no locking wheel nuts, Also the service book has been replaced(has a stamp inside saying that a replacement book been sent out by Subaru) Ive seen a few euro imports that dont have the service book???:wonder:

Car also has DCCD, where as a mate had a widetrack euro import and it had NO DCCD, this crystal grey widetrack does have DCCD.

Is there any way of finding if this car is a Euro import, as its very strong money and would like to know 100% if its a UK or Euro car!!!:thumb:

It will state on the logbook. an sti is a wrx, just male sure it is an sti though but with having dccd then it will be

Conveniently enough the service book is a different colour on a euro car, check the sticker on the drivers door opening, not 100% sure but a UK one usually has subaru(UK) and likewise with the JDM's its Japanese :lol1:

Normally the original service book would have supplying dealer stamp as PDi however if thats not there then difficult to say. I guess a call to Subaru UK would confirm either way.

The key will have two buttons it and a aftermarket alarm fob also uk Subarus have small white dome sensors half way up the "a" piller , the service book will have the PDI stamp in a European country, Malta, Cyprus most likely.

Mine was sourced from Malta, shows as type uk on the logbook, has two buttons on the key, is registered with Subaru UK for recall work.
Didn't know this at the time as v5 doesn't mention this anywhere.
It does have dccd but doesn't have a service book but has invoices for the servicing
I'd not let it put you off, makes sod all difference

Thanks for the reply guys, Looks like its a Euro import!! Would this affect value compared to a UK car???

chrispy200+ 06 March 2016 11:18 AM

No difference as far as I can see, if there was no dccd then yes, otherwise it's just the same car but the original buyer got a much better deal

i know when I was looking at a MY04 car years ago, It turned out to be a euro car (so about £1500 over priced)
The alarm bells rang for me as it had no side air bags which I knew the UK cars had. So I had someone in the 'know' check the VIN/reg to see what came up ;)

If you don't feel comfortable with it.. walk away like I did. They're are plenty of cars out there to look at.

what are you wanting to spend?

how old a car do you want?

why not go JDM?

Any subaru main dealer should be able to tell you once they have more information - reg number vin number

Wurzel 07 March 2016 04:29 PM

Surely a Euro import will have the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car so should be a dead give away.

BLU 07 March 2016 04:50 PM

Hmmm my UK spec STi has the same sticker in the door shut with NE on it.......

My UK spec Forester has KE on it.......

And my suspect Import WRX (registered as a Subaru Unknown, has no sigma alarm and is a bug on an 03 plate) project car has JN on it!

Not all of them have steering wheels on the wrong side

People ordered them from abroad but specified on the right side, mate did the same on a mk4 golf. Saved a load of cash

My 2006 wide track type uk has a single button alarm on the key.

My WRX is a Cypriot import. The vin number is different from UK cars. It is undersealed but had no locking wheel nuts or Cigma alarm. It has a cobra alarm system, not sure about side airbags but just had a Subaru UK recall through the post about the passenger airbag.
Not sure about other differences as I've never compared it to a UK version. Can't complain though, 10 years old and mostly still mint :-)
