there seems to be a huming/whining noise from the rear of my uk 99 scooby it does it whith the speed of the car -could it be rear pads or a diff.cheers

Could be a wheel bearing. Jack the back up with the hand brake off and see if there is any play in the rear wheels.
If it sounds like Red Indians (sorry Native Americans) in the back then its most probably the wheel bearing(s).

I get a noise, but it goes as soon as you pull the handbrake up. Don't know what it is though, I had the wheels off the other day and couldn't see anything obviously wrong.

PS. Are you sure it's not your kids or wife? ;)

I really had a similar problem, it turned out to be rear drivers side wheel bearing.
