Fuel Map

When I get my scooby from Japan do I need to get it remapped to run on UK fuel? I was told by one company I don't need to if I run on higher than 98+ octane. Is that right?

Also if I need to get it mapped would it be okay to wait a few months before doing it? The car won't be used every day anyway.

Defo remap for uk fuel IMO. If you drive it easy and off boost most of the time use V-Power or equivalent you should be ok or even use octane booster, however when you are behind the wheel the right foot tends to get heavy :)
Me personally for peace of mind would and have got mine always remapped to run on UK fuel. Another benefit is the mapper checks all sensors and the running of the car so can tell you if there are any issues which you may not know otherwise.

add some octane booster until to get it mapped and you should be ok to drive

it depends on what scooby your getting as well - I checked over a forester STI recently running on norn irons finest 97 and there was zero knock on the standard map. Runs a lot better after a tweak but was surprised that it was happy on the regular super. If you can't get it mapped at least try and get it checked out somewhere and as said above keep your right foot under control until then.

I've been told the same by importer that it doesn't need to be mapped if using v-power, but I re-mapped it anyway :-)

Octane booster and v power minimum for safe running, a remap is required really if you dont want trouble or incase you get a bad tank of fuel.
I ran my first Spec C for over 3 years on the above octane booster and 99 ron fuel, would never have just run her on the fuel alone and could still get some noise on the knocklink.
