HELP - Blobeye Wrx OBD2 port not working

3 Attachment(s)
Hi guys, engine light came on the other day and I know why....fitted a hks dump valve. Yes lesson learnt

Refitted oem recirc valve but obviously still have the light on dash. I plugged in my bluetooth elm327 dongle into the obd port but nothing, no power to the unit. The previous owner has had the ecu remapped last year so the port has definitely worked in the past. This is the first time I have had to check the obd port. I went to check the wires of the port, see pictures. Does everything seems ok? I've checked every fuse visually in the engine bay and by the fuse box near the port itself. Anyone in particular I need to check?

Im not very good when it comes to electrics so anyone local that could have a look? Im in West London but don't mind travelling. Worst case scenario is to have it checked out by a professional.

Thanks in advance :thumb:

sometimes the pins can bend on the port so you don't get any reading from them even when fully inserted. Try and reseat the cables in the back (a little push should do it) and then check the pins (maybe a little adjustment with a screwdriver) to make sure your getting a solid connection when they are pushed into the connector.

Thanks for the tip, I did read that the pins can get loose or not be seated properly. I did try to push the wires from back. The pins seem ok when you look at the front of the port.

aye just sometimes you have to bend the pins a little to make sure they are getting a good contact when pushed in.

If your reader is not powering up first thing i would do is check live and earth which is

Pin 16 12v
Pin 4 earth
Pin 5 signal earth

All obd2 sockets are the same if you dont have one of them then it wont work. Test with a multimeter if you have one, if not you can use the old method of bulb and some wire.

All sorted now :top: There was a loose connection with pin 16 power source. Got rid of the fault caused by the stupid dump valve.

Cheers guys
