It's certainly interesting to drive in the wet

What turbo is that on? Good drag setup but would be a little laggy for the road

cookstar 01 February 2016 07:54 AM

GTX35r on a 2.1. It's built mainly for drag at the moment.

ossett2k2 01 February 2016 08:15 AM

Nice number but as said must feel proper laggy to drive,do you not use this as a road car?

cookstar 01 February 2016 10:32 AM

Not really, on occasion but it's predominantly for track.

Obviously there's some lag, but not as much as the graph would indicate, it's a mad thing as soon as you press the loud pedal.

boosted 01 February 2016 10:41 AM

Big numbers! How are your gear ratios for the 1500rpm of power? Also what boost does it make in first gear?

banny sti 01 February 2016 10:43 AM

Does it have built heads? as that would extend the power band to 8k and allow you to rev to rev out to 8.5k

looks like power is dropping off after 6.5k though

Would indicate standard heads then :thumb:

cookstar 01 February 2016 11:02 AM

Standard Spec C heads, I'm planning a 2.35 build this year so will save the built heads for that.

Don't forget the car doesn't load up the same way on a Dyno as it does on the road.

Dont you just hate it when the power drops off to 635bhp? 😭

Boosted is a knowledgeable guy and I dont think his comment was meant as a dig but on standard cams after 6.5k the gtx35r will be pretty strangled. Aftermarket cams will open up the breathing and turbo will make power to 8k :thumb:

:lol1: just a joke on my part as 635 is DOUBLE what I've got :thumb:

cookstar 02 February 2016 02:23 PM

637! :lol1:

As above, cams are definitely on the list but I don't want to buy them twice so might hold out for next build.

boosted 02 February 2016 03:51 PM

LOL, non of my comments are ever meant in malice. Constructive comments and discussion of how its was achived and how we can improve upon. This forum is no use if we all went wow thats loads bla bla bla.
637hp is immense! Im just curious as to how it drives, and if it can be kept on song every gear change? Otherwise 500 hp and a smaller turbo might be quicker.

If it was built for track work, I'd step down to a GT30. As its drag I'm gunning for then it's all about peak power for me at the moment.

I'm yet to drive it properly on dry roads, in the wet it spins up in most gears.

Oh and I didn't think for a minute you was having a dig. :thumb:

Awesome power!.. Here is an SC42 (gt3071 core) 2.1 for reference for the other dudes

A1AXX 02 February 2016 05:24 PM

Crosses over at 5k where the 30 starts to to run out of puff the 35 comes alive! Bet its awesome

ossett2k2 02 February 2016 06:08 PM

Hmmm these graphs are making me itch, would love to know how my SC42 performs on the rollers :)
Self mapped but am really tempted to go for a pro map, looks like all the decent pro mappers who dyno map are miles away from me in Yorkshire tho :(
Saying that I hear pat @ scoobyclinic is on form?
Can anyone suggest a dyno oop norf where I can take the car for a run?

joe v3sti 02 February 2016 06:15 PM

Tegsport!
Accurate rollers, used predominantly for competition cars. Not designed to massage the car owns ego, unlike many others

Exactly I just look at the curves, and anything similar to compare the same curve with..

Ime for dyno only, SC and TRL were both as accurate as each other, but agree teg sport is another good place going by what folk say, not been myself.
Tim (tweeks) is very good with ESL so maybe he can help you. (But he'll want to map it at 2 bar :D)

ossett2k2 02 February 2016 08:22 PM

Nice one joe, that's not too far from me so will give them a call and book in for a run,car runs very well but would be nice to see how my DIY map performs with a graph to look at.

@ busta is that tweeks as in demon tweeks? Also close to home but I'm guessing Tim road maps? I've not heard about him on the Scooby scene tbh but if you're recommending him then I will give it some serious thought,as I know for a fact a decent pro mapper will be able to get the most out of my car as appose to me just tinkering lol

veerinder9 02 February 2016 09:23 PM

Wait for it.....wait for it.....wait for it..... Holy fxcking ****tt hold on!

The Rig 02 February 2016 11:39 PM

Nice numbers, personally i wouldnt worry about power dropping off after 6500, christ,t he thing is singing its tits off at 6500, i dont blame it for running out of puff ha ;-)

Lol no not demon tweeks. Tweaks on here, he don't really advertise himself so you'll only know if you know him.
Im trusting him with my car anyway.
