5EAT dragging for 12s Build a 2.5 or a 2.1?

Hello guys, it's my first post on this site.

I'm trying to design and build a setup that will run and prob win 12 second class (drag).

After seeing this guy in russia with exact car as mine (minus the turbo) I'm eager to do the same

his car is a tdo4hla-19t on a 2 liter 5eat tranny. He's running ethanol.
Now, i only have regular pump gas and a Vf34 turbo. Through tuning i have struggled to take off at that speed, partly because my turbo can't brake spool like his due to his own being smaller and twin scrolled.

So my quest was to build a larger engine, run water injection and my slightly larger turbo to get into 12s

my car takes 8 seconds to stall spool my VF34 turbo to 3,000 RPM, which is too much to race with. I'm wondering how much would a 2.1 engine do. I know a 2.5 would certainly do it, but i'm worried about the weak block of the 2.5 splitting

2.33/2.35 and a twin scroll turbo ( the vf 34 is single scroll, vf36 is the roller bearing version twin scroll closest to the vf34). If you cant find a good ej22 then a 2.1 is a good move :)

Does the head overhang of a 2.2 under a 2.0 cause any problems for you guys?

Also, anyone tried the 83mm in a street 2.0? For true 2.2L?
Any issues?
