Just read that a group are MP's proposing to change England's national anthem for sporting events. It's a good idea imho.

Anything that doesn't have us worshiping some "royal" does for me.

Either Flanders & Swann's 'A Song of Patriotic Prejudice' or Henry Purcell's 'Fairest Isle' would be perfect.

tbh, imo the views on the Monarchy are pretty irrelevant

it is just crap - from musical perspective

anything that's sound equally as good when "shouted" is not good music - all imo

I heard flower of scotland was one of the suggestions ;)

I don't think the current National Anthem is being binned as such - in events (eg sport) where GB / UK is represented as a collective the current anthem will be used, but where any of the four countries represent themselves they would use their own anthem / song.
