Windy anywhere else?

The local forecast says a maximum of 45mph but it feels a lot more outside. Doesn't help living on a mainly exposed hill. The tiles are holding on but the conservatory is making some alarming noises..

Is this just in the Midlands or elsewhere also?

It's really windy here in West Yorkshire, we back on to open fields and get the full brunt of the weather. Believe me, I've been expecting some damage of sorts but so far have got away with it. This summer I had the garage roof replaced, had I not then I'm sure this wind would have taken it off.

Turbohot 05 December 2015 09:49 PM

It has been very windy here in North Wales. So windy that it put out my old gas boiler's flame, just before the XFactor started. So we've been without the central heating since then. I'll have to call the gas man tomorrow to fix it. I was on the Wirral this morning. It was absolutely howling there. More like 60-70mph, honestly.

Hey Swati, I hope you've got someone to cuddle up to so you're nice and warm:norty:

I get the warmth from my very own warm spirit. :D

I don't mean alcohol LOL.

Also, my anti-gravity cool n' cuddly cats 😼😼 are not in. They're rotating about in the garden in the wind for fun. In order to cuddle them, I'll have to go outside, jump a few feet up in the air, hug them and start rotating with them. Frankly, I'm so tired that I can't be awrsed.

I have 3/4th bottle of Chardonnay (not warm but chilled) in the fridge since last 3 weeks. I have no desire to touch it. I think I may have a sip. I don't know yet.

GWJ 05 December 2015 10:44 PM

Windy here too, may be something to do with the curry though

Scooby.Newbie 05 December 2015 11:01 PM

Just been out for a fag, is blowing pretty strong in Dorset, no rain yet but think it is on its way

Seemed worse last night, slept at the top of the house (don't ask) and the wind and the rain on the roof windows almost kept me awake

Turbohot 05 December 2015 11:21 PM

Guess what, it's so quiet here right now that if you drop a hair and you'd hear the sound of it hitting your floor. It feels like the calm before the storm. :Suspiciou

stevebt 05 December 2015 11:42 PM

It's just took the ridge tiles off my house and they have came down smashing my cars windscreen and some dents to the bonnet and wings. The screen is like someone threw a brick at it so the car is undrivable.

Scooby.Newbie 05 December 2015 11:46 PM

Turbohot, you may be right, but I think it may be coming as the dog won't eve go out now and she is normally keen

Marco.Singh 05 December 2015 11:47 PM

Sorry to hear that mate, that sucks. Word of warning to others I guess in the badly affected areas.

Yeah. My cats have also come in now, with their tails tucked in between their legs. Another noisy night with chaotic winds outside, I suppose.

dpb 06 December 2015 12:29 AM

I saw a car that came into the bodyshop after some high winds some years ago. A chimney pot had fallen off and hit the roof of the car. The roof was touching the seats! Fair to say it was a rightoff.
Hadn't realised how big a chimney pot is until I saw this one at ground level, they are bloody huge!

Willowsdad 06 December 2015 10:43 AM

I remember in 87, my neighbours chimney fell on his brand new xr2i writing it off!

Camped out Friday night, it was pretty gusty during the night. By lunch time Saturday they'd called all camping off for Saturday night. All died off now though.

Person living next to me has a giant conifer tree in the front garden, and car is parked On our drive,it has grown so big the top is above the house roof.Everytime there is a high wind I become a bit nervy about the tree is going to come crashing down on our drive 😁

ZANY 06 December 2015 11:32 AM

Cloudy Wet and very windy all week through:cry::cry::cry: wake up its dark then goes dark bout 3:30pm ****e can't get nothing done which isn't really a bad thing I suppose:)

bro82 06 December 2015 02:27 PM

Yesterday I was coming back to Manchester from Glasgow and going through m74 and m6 around Shap was a nightmare, two lorries overturn due to high winds a lots of flood and road closures, going there again tonight so I hope I'll get heavy trailer

Turbohot 06 December 2015 05:30 PM

I have terrible garden fence atm. It looks like a senior citizen's mouth whose certain teeth are missing due to age related wear n' tear. I'm leaving it like that for the raging wind's cruel play. She can break my fence panels as much as she likes, but she can never bend or break my spirit!

I'll get the lot changed once she calms down.
