Turbo Technics T36 graphs please!

Iam close to buying a T36 I was just hoping to see a few graphs from anyone running one and what setup you are running please! I have heard good things about these turbos, I have a 2002 JDM STI and want to get my setup right for 410-420 but I'd be happy with anything over 400 with low spool, cheers

Rich

oil seals letting oil pass was the biggest one, i think there is either a new revision or soon to be a new revision

Yep I heard about the oil issues I spoke to Alan from engine tuner and they have a breather mod to get around it.

A smaller banjo on the oil line too I heard helps eliminate the problem

Are you referring to the oil issue Sarg? Or have some fully failed?

Sarg400 20 November 2015 04:04 PM

Yes passing oil rich, I know I guy from Torbay scoobies he's t36 completely shat its self. He's Running a precision turbo now.

bustaMOVEs 20 November 2015 04:48 PM

They are currently in progress with turbo technics to get rectified but it's been months now as I was waiting for one. They are also being converted to roller bearing .
When they will be ready........well your guess is as good as mine.
I went another route instead after waiting months to no avail.

I would speak to martin at engine tuner before You make a decision and start spending money the new precision turbos that enginetuner are fitting are making awesome power, Rule of thumb mate speak to the experts

The t36 was a flavour of the month turbo down enginetuner and they were a let down.

Let's see how the bolt on precision turbos gets, not many good reviews coming out of the states about reliability?

Pay your money take your chance that's the motto...lol

bustaMOVEs 20 November 2015 08:16 PM

I don't know if et have the presicion turbo on shelf, but when I enquired with sumo, they were a made to order item at a couple of weeks or so, so I sacked the idea as there was no definate lead time.
The problems were the older units I'm lead to believe

Wouldn't stop me buying a t36 if it was redone properly but I will sit back and see how the precision turbos go all ranges of turbos have had problem s including MD and SC turbos its all about drivability thats why you should speak to the real experts not the forum experts a lot of people go wrong by not putting on the right turbo for the right engine and mods 2litre cars and 2.5 drive completely different and I have had both thats why soms don't drive as good as they should hey sarge :norty:

Sarg400 20 November 2015 08:57 PM

One good thing about the md turbos they do come with 2 year warranty ;)

can't comment on there after service tho... Mines never gone wrong :luvlove:

Like you say plenty of experts out there some behind keyboards some in garages.

Like with any mods pay your money take your chance :thumb:

scoobyreedy 20 November 2015 09:20 PM

Mate I'm trying to give this guy the right advice so he will be happy with his car you should do the same you know for example your MD is best suited to the 2,5 not your 2 litre thats why its laggy isn't it my point is drivability that why I'm leading him to Martin and engine tuner for advice yes the MD and SC range are good turbos but you should also be steering this chap to the right result thats why he has asked the question

bustaMOVEs 20 November 2015 09:25 PM

You could also say the presicion turbo is also suited to a 2.5. Doesn't stop traders advising for their set up, it's makes good power etc.
For the op's goal would have to be a tried n tested unit to which I'll say sc42

Very true I'm be upgrading my turbo on my 2.5 soon as I'm still unsure on the precision I was going to get a t36 fitted by Martin till they started having issues but I know what makes a good tuned car and that is listening to the people that know what is right for your needs drveability and response for me everytime and yes I might go for SC42 myself yet but either way Martin will be advising me and mapping it:thumb:

Sarg400 20 November 2015 10:39 PM

There's a few guys run the md321t on the 2.0 and are very happy, yes it's laggy under 4k rpm but after that pulls very hard to the redline.

Anyone looking for 400+ on a 2.0l will get lag under 4K rpm, it's after the 4K where it all happens.

I'm not miss leading people :nono:

Ps Andy Forrest says the md321t is the best turbo for a 2.0l apparently?
