Thoughts on this P1 with 3.3

Has anyone seen this P1?

3.3 SVX Engined P1

I'm interested in picking up a Type R/P1 as a usable car that shouldn't lose too much cash. Do you think a car as modified as this will hold its value? Or is the loss of the engine a step too far?

jayallen 12 November 2015 02:16 PM

Must be one of the most pointless engine swaps................ever.

Paulo P 12 November 2015 02:20 PM

I saw it last week and it's a bit of an oddball. I wouldn't personally buy it, it's heavily overpriced and turbo charging the 3.3 wouldn't be cheap or make it viable.

scooby kid 12 November 2015 02:23 PM

couldn't agree more waste of time.

banny sti 12 November 2015 02:30 PM

Engine alone will need another 20k before it is ready to be turbo charged, then another 10-15k in ancillaries to get somewhere around 7-800bhp

Turbocharging it would be silly expensive? Or not possible?

serpico 12 November 2015 03:13 PM

This was up for a lot less a few months back. Think the seller struggled to shift it on as it obviously doesn't have a turbo charged engine. I personally wouldn't bother unless you got it dirt cheap.

MattyB1983 12 November 2015 06:10 PM

It was advertised privately on ebay a couple of times recently. First time it was bid up to £8100 and didn't sell and then after that he put it up for 10k and again, didn't sell.
I'd imagine he's now chopped it into a dealer.

ditchmyster 12 November 2015 07:45 PM

I'm just wondering how it drives.:lol1:

**jay** 12 November 2015 07:47 PM

Seen this and thought id be paying far less due too that engine not more!, whats the point and yes stupid money to turbo it.

Munk 12 November 2015 08:13 PM

each to there own... but what do you gain from this, seens as its a limited edition ....??

johned 12 November 2015 08:35 PM

I think its a pointless thing to do to a P1 as in my eyes it has devalued the car and not added value to it and i just cannot see the logic in fitting such an engine.

Pross 12 November 2015 08:39 PM

There was a classic WRX on farcebook with one of these engines, that wouldnt sell either and that was no where near the crazy money for that P1

Tony Harrington 12 November 2015 08:50 PM

I asked a Subaru specialist about this car & was well advised to keep well away!

elgassi 12 November 2015 09:05 PM

don't waste your money, rubbish P1 IMO

BoozyDave 12 November 2015 09:52 PM

nearly 10k :eek::eek::eek:

if it was such a good engine swap for turbo/bhp reasons, why was it only half done?

maybe someone doesn't realize it will cost another 20k+ to get it running anywhere near 1000 bhp like they state in the ad

They are hoping the buyer is as retarded as the seller.

Paulo P 12 November 2015 11:35 PM

Let's cut to the chase, with that engine fitted it's realistically worth £5k, never best part of £10k. No idea what the mad ******* was thinking fitting that 3.3 but it wasn't going to work, what's the standard output of a 3.3?

About 230HP according to wikipedia does it have manual or still the auto box?

**jay** 12 November 2015 11:53 PM

Loving the hacked to bits slam panel and grill cable tied on poor p1 or whats left of it lol

elgassi 12 November 2015 11:55 PM

a few months ago it was sitting in a little water lol

Which Subaru specialist
My old P1. That photo is deceptive the car did even get wet.
Used to be a forged 2.1 with GT30 before I broke for parts
Il list a few parts that are fitted but not listed.
It's got white line anti roll bars, drop links, anti lift kit, roll centre kit.
Sold the car to a mate who fitted the 3.3.
Bizzare choice I also agree.
Car is rust free and in very good condition.
With the correct engine fitted it's worth that money all day long in my eyes

Oops.....

scooby kid 13 November 2015 08:27 AM

just a shame as i love a P1 for what it is.

ronjeramy 13 November 2015 01:31 PM

So basically with 230bhp they've managed to make it slower and heavier :lol1:

boosted 13 November 2015 02:08 PM

LOL at some of the replies for turbocharging it! Really wouldnt be £25,000 banni ffs! I could turbo this (for myself) for around £2-2500, including all hardware and mapping it myself. Ive done many conversions like this. easy a 400+ hp engine on standard compression (with lots of torque, reliability and off boost drivability, not like a 400hp 2.0)
The usual Autoeccose tax has messed it up though, not worth £9500 for a p1 with the wrong engine in it imo.

Calm you little slippers down, good for you that you can do things yourself! The majority of folk dont have the time or knowledge to do it themselves and even then big difference between running 400bhp and 700 plus on that engine

I think knowledge and skills a lot more than time!
Anyway its far too dear to start off with, good luck selling this Autoeccosse.
