(2003 Blobeye) WRX STi rear shock replacement advice, please
Hi,
(hope this is posted in the right place - if not sorry admin!) I'm just doing some research before replacing the rear shocks on my (2003 Blobeye) WRX STi Type UK, as they feel as though they're on their way out.. (No knocking.. but they feel as though they are quite bouncey when driving.. and also feel spongey and I can feel movement in them as the car comes to a stop for example.. which suggests to me they've seen better days and are on their way out :wonder:) Has anyone any experience with the shocks I have linked below? I believe these are what are on the car at the moment as the struts are gold, rather than red, as would have been from factory on an STi? (Front shocks are red) Reading up I believe I'm right to say that KYB make the factory shocks anyway.. (and that therefore to be fair that means I should expect to replace these in a few years time again.. MOT history of the car shows that the rear shocks were replaced in February 2009 Any help or advice as to whether to go for these, or not.. Or a point in the right direction as to other shocks that are available that would be better to look at getting instead would be greatly appreciated! :thumb: Links: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rear-Right...sAAOSwA4dWHkIG http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rear-Left-...cAAOSwl9BWHlOo James |
Replaced my WRX rears with KYB ultras, only lasted 20,000 miles or so. :(
Think that could in part be due to all the local speed bumps though. |

You could use:
KYB 324030 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KYB-Rear-R...oAAOSwjVVVtijC KYB 324031 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KYB-Rear-L...YAAOSwT5tWHNtg They are the non-inverted ultra sr version for sti spring rates - this style of damper seems inherently more reliable, than then inverted type, when used on blob/hawk. You'd also need a kyb 910046 bump stop and dust boot kit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KYB-Rear-D...MAAOSwiCRUla89 |
VERY helpful! Many thanks! :thumb:
