Here it is folks- The Christmas Pub Meet!

A massive thank you to Rob for taking the time to create this flyer. Super efficient as ever and very festive I think you will all agree!:thumb:

I appreciate that this time of year can turn pretty hectic and once Bonfire Night is out the way we seem to blink and Christmas is upon us all.
This is why I am posting this now, giving you all as much opportunity to clear a little space in those busy diaries so that we can hopefully repeat the success that was September!

As mentioned in the Christmas Yay/Nay thread back in September, there is a chance to subject your cars to the festivities should you wish- although it isn't a requirement as some people won't wish to do that.

We have been known to decorate cars before for these December meets in the past, seeing the addition of tinsel, fairy lights and baubles.
However, those who choose to do this should be mindful and be sure to abide by road safety laws and common sense.

**Do not attach anything to your cars that could prove a distraction or a potential hazard to other road users.
Do not obscure your own vision or attach anything that could come flying off and potentially hit another person/vehicle.
In addition, you should be wary of how you fix things to your cars. Cellotape can bring the paint off if not careful and isn't advised.
Be careful not to place anything plastic such as fairy lights or other decorations where they could get hot and possibly melt.
There's a fine line between having a little fun and ruining your car- its just not worth it. **

I would advise that if anyone wants to decorate their cars, they do so in the car park and then remove said decor before embarking on their trip home.
Failing that, stick to the use of shop-bought decorations designed to be used specifically on cars (reindeer antlers and plushy nose spring to mind)

If you don't want to violate the car- you can embarress yourself instead. Ugly christmas jumpers, silly antlers and santa hats...you get the jist. It's just a little fun.

Hopefully the weather will be kind to us but please remember that we have plenty of room and warmth in the pub should it be a little on the chilly side -'tiz December afterall!-and of course if it turns out to be quite a nice day there's plenty of room outside thanks to the spacious garden.

This family owned pub offers freshly prepared hot and cold food (served from 12-2pm) as well as a nice children friendly area for all the mini ESOC members.

In addition, there's a Christmas bonus courtesy of Paul's mum, who is rumoured to be preparing some Festive Nibbles for the event. :D
I think it goes without saying how grateful we all are for the hospitality that Paul's family have provided over the years. I for one would like to give back to the pub and I hope everyone will be able to dip into their pockets and purchase some of these delightful treats that are being prepared for our benefit.

As ever, there is an opportunity to discuss upcoming events and shows that people might be interested in attending as a group.

Newbies, come down and make yourselves known to us.

Now, the boring part. Please don't act in any form of stupidity, i.e. testing your exhaust loudness, donuts, burnouts. etc.
Anyone caught acting in this manner will be dealt with in certain ways which can lead to being asked to leave the venue. SN accepts no responsibility for anyone's driving style.

Right, now that's done. Lets get some names down.

It'll be good to see you there John, no matter what you should roll up in- Although I am expecting you to dress EXTRA festive to compensate!

Rob, you have us all intrigued- what have you gone for? Green and Red neons? :lol1:

Naturally, this meet will depend a great deal on the weather. If it comes down to the last 24-48 hours and the UK in the midst of the worst winter storm in 50 years then it'll be fair to say it'll most likely be cancelled. Rest assured that should that turn out to be the case, I will give plenty of notice so as not to waste anyone's time....but hopefully the weather will be kind to us.

In addition, anyone who has yet to submit their thoughts with regards to the ***2016 Pub Meets***, you have just under a month to do so as the poll will close at the end of November. Everyone's opinions count so please make yours known.

Yep, just outside Colchester now.. free babysitting living near the parents!

Could not bring myself to turn up to a meet in the Vectra, but now back with a scooby it would be rude not to come for a beer and catch up ☺

Scoobysmeet 22 November 2015 08:44 PM
