Very, very tempted by one of these. Price aside, I see very few downsides for the Windows user

alcazar 07 October 2015 09:38 AM

Laptop?

JackClark 07 October 2015 09:43 AM

Yeah kind of, it's a tablet with a keyboard that contains more battery and a GPU.

dpb 07 October 2015 09:58 AM

Getting one then Jack ??

JackClark 07 October 2015 10:19 AM

If I had to buy something other than a Macbook then yes.

mrtheedge2u2 07 October 2015 10:43 AM

Looks nice.....would be interested in seeing the residual values of it.

hodgy0_2 07 October 2015 02:24 PM

Littleted 07 October 2015 03:27 PM

its like the 2 year old lenovo helix but bigger...

bioforger 07 October 2015 03:42 PM

Pricey, £1600 quid in our money, probably more, as tech is cheaper in the US.

You could have the same spec i7 base or better in a nice lappy imo.

Galifrey 07 October 2015 05:20 PM

That is gorgeous if you want a performance laptop and tablet in one.

Spectre x360 2in1: i7, 512gig ssd, qhd screen etc. can be had for £1100 next day delivered. Plus £140 cash back.

Lose a touch on screen resolution (1440 vs 2000) but on a 13" screen I reckon higher than 1440 isn't really anymore beneficial, although I'll reserve judgement til I see it in the flesh.

Biggest drawback is weight: 1.5kg is quite hefty for a tablet, but that's the trade off for i7 performance: the need for bigger batteries.

JackClark 07 October 2015 08:15 PM

It's HP so will fall apart a day after the warranty expires.

ALi-B 07 October 2015 10:04 PM

Funny that happened with my phone......same will probably happen with the new one....

pimmo2000 11 October 2015 08:47 AM

Not a fan of windows tablets, I like to be able to control my environment and I find it very difficult with these.

I've tried a number of windows and Android and always come back to the ipad.

ALi-B 11 October 2015 10:32 AM

To be honest I only use the tablet mode when doing in car diagnostics (where space is tight) or reading documents in portrait.

Problem I have is most of the automotive software I use doesn't scale very well on high resolution displays. For example; Mercedes's online service history portal which is a Java based app is displayed in minuscule proportions; can barely read icons and text. Unless some bright chappy comes up with a workable scaling solution for legacy applications its really hindering the hardware's potential.

JackClark 11 October 2015 06:20 PM

What's Java?

ALi-B 11 October 2015 07:07 PM

Its something Mercedes insist I use to update the service records on customer's cars

I sometimes need it for network config. Its not as tricky to get rid of on Mac nowadays.
