I've had Virgin for years and they seem good to me. Been with them since they took over from ntl many moons ago.

15 years at least on cable and I've only called them to get money off my bill.

alcazar 04 October 2015 12:40 PM

Been with them fourteen...the only thing p*sses me off is they do NOTHING for their loyal customers.

Just upgraded to 100Mb, £2 a month, free later this autumn.

pimmo2000 04 October 2015 08:59 PM

Awesome, but why do they limit the upload speed compared to others?

I'm actually wanting to shop for better deals on broadband. Been with BT for years and had the first infinity install in my area.

Bandwidth limitations .. 90% of users want faster downloads.

Makes sense, never thought about that!

That is going to change though before long as more and more people move to cloud based services. I get 20mb upload speed which is still not enough when you want to back up 40gb to the cloud. I'd happily sacrifice download speed for more upload speed.

Do Virgin block the use of illegal movie streaming sites and/or torrent applications?

I have to ask, sorry if this annoys people. I don't partake in such activities myself though.

JGlanzaV 05 October 2015 06:30 PM

What does it matter? Im on BT and they never stop me going onto pirate bay etc

Some ISPs block them. My wife and son stream loads of movies and like you say there's no problem with BT. I wouldn't want to change providers for them to restrict that.

VM block the same as BT, the ones ordered by the courts.

That said and not something I would suggest, but there is always ways around the blocks.

"We’ll be in touch by the end of November to tell you when your speed upgrade is ready."

Nice.

jonnyboy82 12 October 2015 08:45 PM

Can anyone confirm if you activate and order the upgrade is there an increase in price per month other than the £5.99 for the new hub? Mine will be boosted from 100 to 150mb.

pimmo2000 13 October 2015 06:37 AM

There's no price increase as part of uplifts, general price increases do seem to be happening though, but they are throughout every business sadly.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I got an email saying it was increasing by £1.75 and I wanted to be sure I wasn't going to be charged again for the upgrade.
