H&S or Cobra

Which is the better to go for. Ive got a H&S angled box at the moment but i want to so more subtle looking.. origional scoobysport style. Both makes do the same sort of design but not sure which to go for

I found Cobra to have a deeper but louder, HS a little more tinny, but the HS was much better quality steel that the Cobra, and far better quality sports cat.

But either way, both excellent zoorsts.

couldnt agree more, i added the resonator after a few months so it would pass the noise test at last years totb

powerwrx 30 September 2015 10:34 PM

hmm..ive got a full decat with a non resonated centre so im thinking the cobra may be abit too loud still

Manford 30 October 2015 03:50 PM

Ive got a cobra back box, standard middle with scrubber cat delete on my wrx, sounds good, nice burble

Do want a resontaed centre though.....

powerwrx 30 October 2015 07:19 PM

im still undecided on which to go for, ive got a full turbo back decat so I don't want it to be really loud and droney

imprezagaz 30 October 2015 07:44 PM

Go for the cobra track day friendly. I've got it cat back. Got a 3" decay and Harvey up pipe and it isn't loud

powerwrx 30 October 2015 07:49 PM

whats the difference between the track friendly and the normal road use one?

imprezagaz 30 October 2015 09:22 PM

It is meant to be 92db and has 2 resonators in the centre pipe

Norman Dog 30 October 2015 09:51 PM

Have this one fitted:-

Nice rumble and does not drone on the motorway. :thumb:

Cobra track day friendly with a 4.5" exit (I like the look so they made it for me)
de-cat RCM manifold - passes noise tests at 98/99 db depending on the wind and never get winged at on driveby I'm not sure If I would feel comfortable going for a 98 day though!

The car has the rear seats/ and boot carpets wheels etc removed.

When at home or wanting to be noisy I swap the backbox for a Hayward and scott 4.5" slash angle exit back box and that is a little less resonating but ALOT louder outside the car circa 104/105 db

Every time I try and get away with that setup on a track day (other than the ring or Spa..) I get black flagged for noise or, warned at the end of session and end up swapping to the Cobra again.

The Finish /quality of Steel on the H & S is better than the Cobra.

Didnt realise cobra did a resonated centre. My 3" cobra sport does have the removable restrictor in the tailpipe but I was advised to take it out so I may look for the resonated centre to bring noise levels down.

If you ring them I'm sure they will supply you with this double resonated section, (this will actually help power)

It does make quite a difference. When I first bought mine I was wrongly supplied with the deresonated centre (which I had fitted without checking :o) a little too loud for me.

Put in a claim with PayPal stating I would be happy to accept a claim for the difference in price as it was partially my fault, but was told to return item for full refund. :D
