Both really nice motors

Phil3822 30 September 2015 05:31 PM

Likewise, the classic looks lovely and iconic.

not that keen tbh

much prefer the classic!!

serpico 01 October 2015 09:13 PM

Classic for me too however the latest edition does look spot on in white. You're lucky you can have the best of both worlds. Enjoy.

Telf 01 October 2015 09:35 PM

I like them both, but then I'm biased. I have both shapes as well, just an RB with a blue one.

DaveMK39 02 October 2015 09:16 AM

photo them side by side to show which one has eaten all the pies in 20 yrs.

love the classic.
the other is massive panels with shopping trolley wheels.

Lovely fair play, good purchase ;)

The 555 Classic looks great in every way don’t get me wrong

But the evolution of the model for todays market you cant beat all the toys as well as the comfort to a degree. There is no substatute for a little bit of refinability, if your using it as your daily and it must be a far nicer place to be than the classic as far as the interior goes. ;)

Absolutely spot on, as you age those things become more and more important ;) Also the new one nukes classics, newages off the line :p I don't have to rev its nuts off anymore to get a decent launch :lol1: As for its looks, having had classics before, in the flesh the new one is massively better looking and more aggressive.

MattyB1983 02 October 2015 11:41 AM

Which is more fun ???

BlueBlobZA 02 October 2015 12:07 PM

Tough one to call, comparing standard versus standard, the new STi without any doubt for me. It's very chuckable/no body roll a good hoon machine on the limit, whereas a standard classic STi is raw, better noise, but a bit understeery. Performance is about the same, new STi has better torque though.

0-60 Wrx Sti. 4.7 sec
0-60 Wrx TypeRA. 4.5 sec
Be hard to see the RA being nuked off the line?

In the real world those figures as you know aren't really achievable without looking like a grade a cock, whilst you rev the nuts off the type r to get it hooked up. In the new one you can pretty much launch it effectively from idle. Also I was basing that comment on mine which has been mapped, so it has a bit more poke than standard ;)

ossett2k2 02 October 2015 01:03 PM

I know what you're saying but I still say my v3 with a little remap would give it a good go ;)
And launch control set at 4000rpm so not really revving it's nuts off.

fat-thomas 02 October 2015 01:03 PM

ej257...........popping already

Yea I guess there wouldn't be much in it, new one just feels stronger to me, probably because its new, compared to a stage1 type R i had in the past.

g7prs 02 October 2015 03:39 PM

The classic has 400 ish bhp and a six speed box so its definately more fun for back road blasts i'd say but ive not had time to take the new one along some of my favorite roads yet.

The new one is a lot more refined and seems to get to speeds without you noticing it.

ossett2k2 02 October 2015 04:08 PM

Noticing the speed make it funner :D
Both stunning cars tho :thumb:
