2005 Sti won't start (no dash lights nothing)

So I went to start my car only to find that nothing was happening (2005 UK sti). No alarm nothing. Unlocked the car using the key and turned the ignition on. No lights came on or anything. Checked the battery and all seems good. I'm guessing a fuse has likely gone. Anybody else had this issue? If it is a fuse then what could have caused it as the car was fine the last time I used it? Thanks guys

how have you checked the battery, bit strange for a fuse to go while nothing is happening . . .

Tidgy 30 September 2015 10:06 AM

as above, sounds like the battery is flat to me

Got 13v across the battery. Definetely not the battery.

Check the main slow blow fuse in the fusebox under the bonnet.

And IF it's gone...find out WHY, don't just replace it.

toyney83 30 September 2015 11:27 AM

Will do alcazar. Is that the 80a fuse and any probable causes likely to blow it? Thanks

toyney83 30 September 2015 10:09 PM

Ok so it's the 80a sbf that's gone. Anybody else had this before. What does the 80a fuse feed?

AS it sounds like you have a multimeter it's worth measuring the resistance between the load (not battery) side of the fuse and chassis. For it to blow there will be a very low resistance/short there. It's worth seeing if the short is still present before you bother replacing the fuse.

As above...sorry for the late reply, traveling down to Limoges yesterday, and when I got here at 5.30pm, AFTER the French helplines have closed at 5pm, the internet connection was so unstable it was unusable.

I had something like this happen to me last year. I looked at the fuses on the interior drivers side and all was ok. Behind the fuse board there is a couple of wiring plugs. I pushed one of them in and it was fixed. No probs since, must have been a loose connection. Steve.:thumb:
