IAT Wiring question to my97 turbo
hi
fitted 6s, ver 3 sti ecu to 97 turbo, changed wires and got the car started and driving. but the problem is that when boost starts coming it starts spluttering because of overfuelling. select monitor showed that intake temperature is -44c. it could be the problem. but how to wire the IAT sensor correctly? |
STi3/4 uses a larger diameter different MAF sensor (as well as other hardware differences) - This will be the main reason for your overfuelling issue.
Also, the higher rev limit on the STi ecu is not suitable for a UK/Euro Turbo engine. |

I suppose the ECU should be mapped properly to suit its new surroundings now really. To the OP, go to the ESL website and read the installation manual. It will tell you what to do and how to do it. http://www.enduringsolutions.com/Manual.pdf http://www.enduringsolutions.com/ECU978pinout.pdf |

The OP can set the Rev limit back to the UK spec with the ESL easily, if he/she has the software and cable!

At no point did the OP mention an ESL board?
Apologies to all. I just got carried away seeing V3, I guess I assumed that anyone playing with V3/4 ECUs have ESL. |
Maf is not a problem, i tried orange maf with no difference. only reading that was wrong was intake air temp. i donīt know where to put it in ecu exaclty.
these cars drive on torgue, no point driving revs in red, so rev limiter has no difference for me. |
Well as far as I'm aware none of the standard V3 ECUs use an IAT sensor unless it's got a daughter board of some sort fitted. I didn't see one in the pinout I've attached. Mine reads a constant value like yours does because there's no sensor attached. You could still look through the ESL manual and see how it's connected in there, might still apply to your ECU. Might be worth opening yours up to see what's inside.

Like piehole says the v3 does not have an IAT sensor as standard.
Putting a sensor on will make no difference to ignition retard and fuel enrichment when your charge temps are high. With ESL board fitted and running mafless you can then use the IAT and adjust the compensation tables for different charge temps. You also need ESL to calibrate the sensor,if you don't then your log reading of -44* will never change. |
actually this sti ecu uses iat sensor, and without this sensor sti is also not running correctly. sti uses from v3 iat sensor, there is a pin in the ecu where it should be. esl pinout is not for sti, it is for euro/uk model. i foud the correct pinout also, but there is a wire in that place that should have not been there according to euro model pinouts. it is strange. pin for iat sensor should be empty according to euro pinout. and in that esl pinout it is B135 1. in sti pinout it is 24.

Ah I see,my v3 STI with its 6s ECU must be different to yours then
btw pin 24 is ignition system GND |
