Help..Samco hose colour choice.?

Going to start replacing all the hoses in the engine bay for Samco hoses, the only trouble is I can’t decide to go for blue or Black.?

Car is a White Hawk, Don’t want to “Chav up” the engine bay with silly colours but my preferred current favourite is black but it’s a lot of money to spent without a lot of visual enhancement if you know what I mean. Hence my consideration for Blue

anyone got any pictures of the above colours to influence me, here is the engine bay at the moment:-

Blue

S3LDM 24 September 2015 10:24 AM

Mmmm I did start with blue on the windscreen washer pipes as you can see, need to decide before I start ordering all the rest

mattpat 24 September 2015 06:27 PM

I like the subtleness of black in one respect but as you say a lot money for little visual enhancement

I think red is also a straightforward choice as it ties in with the inlet manifold and intercooler stencil well but not too much red...I think there is a balance

Why not go gun metal or classic matt black...although not sure what kits or fitments are available

Lovely Hawk btw

cheers
Matt

Mmmm gun metal now that's an option I had not considered that will tie in well with my wheels, and still give me a subtle look but people will notice the change that they might not see with OE black

Funny enough I seen gun metal grey Samco hoses on the Samco stand at Rallyday

Cheers pal ;)

Try the grey then as quite unusual

Black will not look any difference and a large cash outlay too

Red is really nice and have the wow factor

Me

Well ............

Attachment 42511

I call it bling rather then chav :D

S3LDM 24 September 2015 09:26 PM

Sorry Mr Harding wrong choice of words in my first post :) forgive me

Yes that's my worry with black lot of money and work for very little visual pleasure, as there is nothing wrong with the hoses on the car now performance wise

Bling is the way forward then I think ;)

bustaMOVEs 24 September 2015 09:32 PM

Noooo.
Black is the new stealth look. Keep it simple yet effective

S3LDM 24 September 2015 09:38 PM

Busta Now I am back to square one :)

bustaMOVEs 24 September 2015 09:48 PM

Lol, your standaoblack ones will crack at some point, replacing them with silicone ones will be for the longlivety.
Sod that, who dresses their engines for show? Not me. Hence black is cool.

You can spend £100+ on a fault sensor etc but who will you show it to, to say you've spent a lot on said part.

Looking at the very clean engine bay

It's screaming out for red samcos

Match the nice Sti logo

Can't make out on the pictures if you have red hella horns

If not get them :D

Attachment 42493

Also get the samco clips As they are nice and shiny

Attachment 42494

Nice to see a white version
Alternative would be white samcos but red would be my first choice

What you say makes sense, the car is 8 years old good maintenance by replacing parts before the fail makes a great deal of sence to me

And something I always do :)

Yes the clips will be a must along with the hoses

I went for the PIAA horns, I made custom brackets to mount them side by side behind the grill

White or black for your car :)

b3nmw 25 September 2015 10:55 PM

Samco is right my our works yard, might be worth popping into the direct to see the various colours etc. Probably fairly close to you. Pontyclun

S3LDM 26 September 2015 08:56 AM

Cheers Budd

When I was in Rallyday I went to the Samco stand looked at the colours, they gave me the full colour chart to look over also had some small samples :)

Blue = Facebook chav
Black - Spot On
Grey - Definitely could work and look pretty tidy

Your engine bay looks spot on already.
Keep it black.... So much more tasteful! I personally hate chavy coloured engine bays just looks a boy racer has owned the car...

Matt_STi 29 September 2015 02:44 PM

I went for pink, not to every ones taste but works well with the black car. Got few more bits to add then it's sorted

The matt black ones (not the shiny black ones) don't even have the white Samco logos on so they are ultra-subtle. Which is a good thing.

jameswrx 29 September 2015 06:44 PM

Black, 100%

I think the fact your spending on quality but it doesn't shout, is more impressive than it being in your face. Anyone who knows will appreciate you've gone black, anyone who doesn't know theyre samcos in black isn't worth impressing anyway.

Id be more put off by the open cone filter then some decent coloured samco hoses. Much more 'boy racer"

S3LDM 02 October 2015 09:47 AM

Decision has been made Frayz

Going for black ancillary hoses and coolant and red for the Turbo hoses just to add a little splash of colour

I see your point, however open cone filter would not put me off as long as the car had been mapped for it

After much thought and the fact that beggers can't be choosers, I went for red. Got them at a bargain price IMO :)
