Please help me understand my dyno output
 

Hi Everyone,

I got the old girl back a couple of hours ago from API. She feels completely different and a lot more "torquey"

Below is my graph. I understand the profile has changed but to the simple "I drive it" it looks to be just a more responsive graph.

What I don't understand is the other two lines on the graph ?:confused: Yes I am engine thickie.

You have a before and after bhp and before and after torque mate which is why there are 4 limes.

As for performance mods, none. The car is a standard 2.5 Hawkeye WRX. It has a Ninja aftermarket backbox on it but thats it.

Dark Blue is original torque figure. Dark Red is original BHP

Light Blue is new torque figure. Light Red is new BHP.

The mapper has increased boost level and trimmed the fuel, so that torque comes on much stronger and peaks higher. BHP is a calculation of torque and RPM, so it follows the torque curve.

As you can see between the 2 graphs, the stock boost and fueling set conservatively, to take into account different grades of fuel, environment conditions, longevity and also distinguish it further from a stock STi.

The Ninja backbox probably adds nothing. The real restriction is the CATS in the exhaust. If you fitted a sports CAT, uprated air filter and probably a fuel pump, your mapper would probably have been able to get another 20% extra torque/bhp, on top of what he managed with your stock car.

I expect that it drives much nicer now? You can see on the graph that your original map dropped off between 2900 and 3800rpm, before regaining some surge. Whereas your new map has a much smoother curve.

Thanks for the explanation. It drives like a completely different car. I gave it a poke this morning and I was like "f............k that's powerful". I did ask the question about decat and airbox but then again we (I) have to be careful as it is still stock 2.5 internals so...
