Tyres rubbing arches - advice please

Hi,

I have a 2005 Blobeye and the rear tyres rub on the edge of the arches, presumably when I have the family on board, bumpy roads etc. It's running standard height springs with Mania Racing alloys and 225/40 18's.

I assume it's rubbing the arches because the wheels aren't suitable for the car and are either too wide or the offset is too much.

The paint has now worn off the arches and they are starting to rust so I need to do something. Am I best going down a wheel size to 17's? or narrower tyres?. Has anyone else had the same issue?.

Thanks for your help.

The et of the wheels could be wrong for sure,or you car has been lowered to low as 225/40/18 rubber should not be giving you no problems. If you only have the problem of rubbing with extra weight of rear seat passengers, try to A).raising it back up a tad or B).changing to the right et wheels or even C).drive around solo:).SJ.

If you have ET48 ish then you may have a geometry issue and be running positive camber either due to a bent hub or moved camber bolt. You should be able to see this by looking at how both wheels sit when viewed from behind.
