blob jdm hid bulbs
 

i have a fresh import jdm blobeye widetrack with hid lights my main beams are white but my full beam is very yellow in look. im trying to clean up the look of the front end so looking to put a white hid bulb in can anyone recommend one or tell me the fitment i need not sure if the fitments that are mentioned in bulb sites are for uk lights only

First off, you can't put an HID bulb into a normal light, not unless you buy an aftermarket kit with ballasts etc.

Normal bulbs can be had with whiter light, but you'll never replicate a true HID colour, OE ones are 4300K.

Yes, but that wasn't your question. You asked how to get the main beam the same colour as the dip, unless I'm mistaken?

You will need to pull the bulb out and check it, but I wouldn't be surprised if its a 9005/HB3 halogen bulb in your full beam.

Having experimented myself with various colour temperature xenon bulbs, you can match the colour but the light output is hideous as you have no definition of where your full beam is going. In the end after trying many 55 and 100 watt xenon 4300K and 6000K bulbs in my full beam I settled for 100watt halogens as the best compromise to seeing stuff at night.

However, there are some Crees LED bulbs now which give a white output and are extremely powerful. I haven't tried these yet as on my car the bulb is above the wheel arch liner and due to its unprotected place and the cooling fan on the Crees bulbs may not be very protected. Of course you can retrofit an HID bulb but not sure what light output will be like with that reflector.

I'm not convinced with LED bulbs in lights made for halogen. The light output relies on the EXACT positioning of a tiny filament in halogen, and the CREE bulbs are NOT tiny, nor are they in the right place to give the correct light distribution.

HID H4 bulbs suffer the same problem, the results being bright, but zero focus.

Yip as alcazar said only the main dipped beam bulb is an hid the full beam is not so you would just need to buy a halogen bulb that gives off a more white looking light it wont run a xenon bulb.

But as I think we all covered although you can match the light colour the resulting light is poor due to the reflector. Hence why I am now running the 100w halogens.

thanks for the replys guys ive changed the side lights for led so they match my dipped beam. but based on what you guys are saying i think i may stay with the halogen main beam as the light is impressive focus and brightness for driving is impressive thanks for the help

You could try so-called uprated bulbs, Ring 120%, Philips ultra vision, Osram Nighbreakers, etc, they are whiter than standard, but retain the focus.
