GC8 STI Fog light cover differences?

Hey guys! So kind of a random question but I've been very curious about it. Now, obviously it's not a big deal at all but it has been making me wonder for awhile. So I have a 1999 GC8 STI (GC8G4ED) and I've looked up a lot of pictures of 99 STI's as well and I've noticed they have a different fog light cover styling. Mine has the covers pictured below

Now, I've noticed that 22b has this style as well. Obviously mine isnt a 22b because it doesnt have a 2.2l but it has made me wonder.

Pretty much every other 99 STI i look up online has this style of foglight cover

So now my question is, why the change? Could mine be possibly a late or early model of the 99 STI? Special edition of some kind? Once again, not a huge deal because they're fog light covers :P Just very curious! If anyone has any knowledge of this let me know!

Not so much the fog cover but the bumper they attach to depending on model of car. Some cars around the globe had different bumpers for whatever reason and the fogs came with it.

Same model/colour as mine. :king: :D ;)

Yours has an aftermarket 22B/WRC-style bumper fitted by a previous owner, hence its different 'round' style f/l covers (1st pic).

The correct bumper/'square' f/l covers combo for your car are shown in the 2nd picture you posted.

Obviously, it's up to you if you want to return the bumper to standard. Unless you're a 'paranoid purist' lol, I wouldn't waste your time/money. I think it looks okay... Esp. as its 'chunky' looks are balanced by the STi's high-rise rear wing.

Plus you can boast to your pub-mates that your whip possesses that all-important 'Impreza WRC' connection lol :lol1:
