Roll cage clarification
Morning lads,
Looking to order a clubman spec weld in roll cage for my 2005 wrx. I'm having trouble locating one though. They all seem to be for gc8 or a full international spec one for the new age. Any ideas on who or where will supply one? Thanks |
I've just checked Custom and they don't seem to list one ???
Have you called them ? |
funbags, Ive had my welder call them and waiting to hear back. also had 2 or 3 suppliers call them and waiting to hear back aswell but its not looking promising. Wish The classic cage would fit haha
|
How about TEG Sport or ADGE Speed
Quick Google brought this up but never heard of them and with it being 92-07 I suspect it will be quite a 'generic' fit |

They must be being supplied by somebody though ? be surprised if they are doing scratch cages.
Weld in would be stronger supposed it depends on what the car is destined for |

Weld in would be stronger supposed it depends on what the car is destined for Car is destined for superlap scotland and a few other events next year. All round track slag / weekend racer really. |

I enquired with RCM as I want a multi point bolt in but safety devices on do one for a gc8 not newage spec c so it will need cutting and re-welding me thinks :(

Just felt that a weld in was a bit safer and maybe even lighter too from what I've read. Looks like it'll have to be a bolt in one though

There are pros and cons to both of them to be honest. I personally would go for a correctly fitted bolt in.

You have this option for a weld in
http://www.safetydevices.com/motorsp...roof/461/1283/ And this for a bolt in http://www.safetydevices.com/motorsp...roof/459/1283/ I have the bolt in one in my classic and its a pain to fit but once in its excellent. I am pretty sure scoobyclinic are one of the few suppliers, that's where I got mine |

Why do ye ask? |
LOL Its not hard to work out, from Ayrshire and your username. I assume Ryanair? I know a few of the lads working there. I will be heading down to Prestwick myself with Bristow in October when our SAR hangar is complete.

i use bolt in and they are fine and rolled a car with a bolt in and lived
they are ok for uk events |
They are only ok if they are MSA certified, if you get scrutineered and they ask for the certification details and you don't have it you wont be competing.

Good advice though Arch. I always took all the paperwork/receipts etc about any of my fitted kit with me just in case a scrute got a bit arsey but they were all ok and very knowledgeable about it all so never had any problems. |
100% right ref cage in terms of not being needed for road going class, but if its fitted my understanding is it needs to be certified hence why having a cage fabricated that isn't certified can cause issues. If you go down that route you need to keep the certs from the material supplier showing spec, wall thickness etc etc and even then it may not get passed.

Unfortunately im not eligible for road going series as car is completely stripped with 1 seat and harness. this would have made life a bit simpre and in hind sight is probably the route id have went down.
can i ask which race series or events you enter arch & rescue dude |
Here is the cage that I've settled with; any last thoughts before I buy it?
