Any GO PRO'ers out there? 4k? Crash? Mac?

Thinking of getting the Go Pro Black 4 for holiday amongst other things... Any good?

Also everytime i try to watch any 4k video on youtube it crashes as soon as it starts....

Yet, i can watch it on Vimeo

Pretty sure I've watched it on youtube before so hoping its a Youtube fault, lol.. Can anyone check for me, lol

Good to see the japs are still stuck in 2001 lol

Does youtube support 4k? Your device also has to support 4k

I can watch 4k video on my Mac.

I'd try another browser and also update flash.

P.S. The Go Pro Black is a great bit of kit and can make truly spectacular videos! Just remember to consider sound and external mics if you intend to record car action.

I wouldn't record 4k on a Go-Pro, excellent 1080 or sub par 4k.

I find its not youtube that crashes on 4K its the Flash plugin.....I haven't got round to sorting it, but what I will do is try updating or reinstalling the browser's plugins, especially anything flash or java related.

Proof being is explorer and firefox use different flash plugins....if it dies on firefox, if I switch to explorer, it works fine. This was on my desktop, which is a state of semi-retirement and dire need of a clean slate install, but after purchasing a HP Spectre x360 laptop which blows it out the water (no crashes yet)....I've neglected to sort it out; first time I've ever had a laptop "that" good to the point I'm using it instead of the desktop....just wait...I'll get a neck strain now from the bad posture

Not sure what use a camera is without either viewfinder or screen?

Surely over half your shots will want cropped?

Turns out my laptop is using HTML5 in youtube already...maybe that's the reason....

I have similar issues with HTML5 and 4K video on my mac.

It works but it drops frames often. I'm using a MBP 13' Retina (2014) with 16GB of ram and a high end i7 (in the mac world at least). Performance shouldn't be an issue but it clearly is on my mac under the above configuration.

My Hero4 has a screen but it is quite small. I bought one when I last went on holiday and it turned out to be a very worthwhile investment. I bought it for water based activities and have got some excellent footage of the kids snorkeling and skin diving. I've even watched the video blown up on a 9ft wide projector screen and its still pretty impressive.

Download the video and try, I still doubt that it'll play very well as even though new'ish your video card is borderline up for the job then coupled with a download = not great.

Jack, thanks although I can play 4K video fine locally off my Mac and also using Flash just not HTML5.

HTML5 on my keeps dropping frames when I try to play it. The processors aren't anywhere near maxed so I'm guessing there is some inefficiency somewhere although I've not put anytime in trying to figure it out if I'm honest.

HTML5 video at 4k is still very new and as such probably not great. I don't have anything close to being able to test with, 2010 is my latest and that's a Macbook.
