French and Italian petrol

Some friends and I are planning a road trip down to the south of France and into Italy. I've read a few of the posts dotted about regarding fuel but I just want to make sure.

I've got a spec c and I haven't had it mapped for UK fuel yet (not had it that long) so it is still mapped for Japanese fuel. In the UK I get 99 octane from Tescos or Shell.

What are my options in France and Italy? I've read that a lot of people saying French fuel is rubbish, what petrol stations should I be looking out for? What's fuel in Italy like? Should I take octane booster and if so how much? A bottle per tank?

Thanks

Definitely use booster. I recommend Nitrous Formula (NF) Race - by far the most potent on the market and one bottle will do more than one tank.

Where's the best place to get that in the UK?

Call Roger Clark Motorsport.

And yes NF is the best stuff. Proven.
My mate imports some stuff that comes out of a refinery in the UAE which is supposedly very good. But it is early doors.
So NF is the default octane boosted to go for.....so far

French fuel does seem to be naff re max octane ratings 98 max I seem to recall.

However, and sorry, but not very helpful, some countries/fuel companies run 100 and even 102 octane but I can't remember which although reasonably certain in Austria and Switzerland.

Fuel in Italy very expensive so fill up before you get there and don't leave it until the last minute as local fuel near the border tends to rise in cost.

Thanks for the info, that's really useful. That's great news Luca, at least I only need the octane booster for France then!

Almost every garage in France has the 98 stuff, although it's SUPPOSED to be going to be phased out, "as no-one needs it".

Cost is 20c per litre dearer on motorways, try and find a local supermarket.

Pish, we need it! :) maybe I won't need to take so many bottles of octane booster
