front arb help and advice
If anyone can help or give some advice it would be much appreciated thought i would change the front rollbar this morning so jacked it up put it on blocks and under i went so undone the nut and bolt on the driverside bracket moved over to the passenger side removed the the bolt at the rear of the braket to then realise the 12mm nut had been rounded slightly so the spanner just started to slip
i spent 4 hours trying deferent ways to remove the nut but it just seams to soft all nuts were first soaked with wd40 first ive tryed heat, freeze spray, lock jaw grips i even tapped a 11mm ring spanner on and even that started to slip...... please help |

Drill it out? Grind it off? Or there's rounded off bolt sockets that will get it off too
|
Which bolt? The mount or drop link?
Drop link - buy a new one and cut the old out with a grinder etc. The mount where the bushes are, pay someone to do it. ;) |
Yeah it the mount you can't get a socket on it
Didnt realy want to pay someone to do such an easy job as changing the arb but this has stumped me |
Irwin bolt grip removers from screwing or machine mart.
Will get it off no problems. |
Screwfix

If you can get just the socket part on you can use a spanner on the socket as they have flat sides for this purpose.

Anyone know if a nut splitter will work on a flanged nut
|
Metal blade on a reciprocating saw or battery grinder?
|
Lol i did think about that but then i think the front bolt is welded in as it comes down so the nut goes on to that and if i cut it i will have to drill it out and replace it
Thats why today i was wondering if a nut splitter would work on a flanged nut |
I had exactly the same thing happen. The subframe is in the way?? In the end i mangled it that much I hammered a 11mm spanner over it.. Got it off with that
Good luck Dan |

Good luck Dan Lol yep tryed that as well put a 11mm ring spanner on and then used a hammer and coal chisel to bash it on thought that would have done it then it just slipped as well chewing it up even more..... it the bloody softest nut ive ever come accross |
I used the other end of the spanner.
