Bleddy Autocorrect on Apple devices!

I sent a message to my external practice consultant with "No problem with the change in appointment at all. Best wishes for your speedy recovery and see you on 30th at 16:30. Red studs".

I didn't mean to say 'red studs', I meant 'regards' FFS! And he has measles atm! :brickwall I had to message him again to apologise.

What have been your autocorrect blunders that ended up with the receivers?

I have to say that once you try Apple, you won't lick back!

Oh, shoot! I meant, you won't look back!

Bleddy autocorrect! <launches iPad towards the wall with the abstract modern art hanging on a slight p7ss>

Swype
Twice the speed

I've heard from absolutely all ex-Apple devices owners that their android, Windows etc. phones are sub-standard in compare to the slick and tidy Apple.

Swype app must be ok, though. I say this because your spellings have improved since you have a smart device/s. Keep it up. :thumb: :D

bioforger 21 July 2015 08:29 PM

Rubbish Th, with android you can customise not just the text input method be it the old school type out each letter, swype or auto word/sentence prediction in conjunction with swype but also the whole keyboard's look and feel. Always makes me laugh when i see teenagers texting each letter with their thumbs on iphones at warp speed. They spend more time correcting words than they do typing out what they actually want to say :D

dpb 21 July 2015 08:34 PM

I don't use swype on here since its windows or blackberry device I use mostly for here ,

For phone I wouldnt think anything other than swype,

,what kind of divert uses two hands !!

Well I can only conclude the twin thumbs method is for people without an inkling of how to spell,

Or are they saving their second thumb from performing even more unsavoury activities ?

Excellent. Does it also autocorrect (I mean, add) punctuation and 'I' for an 'i'? I don't think so. :D ;)

Of course yes and has done for years :lol1: It even does an automatic fullstop, shock :o ;) You can even bypass having to swype individual words by swyping over the spacebar as you swype between words and it automatically recognises the sentence you are trying to compile.

I was poisoned by this back in the 90's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graffiti_(Palm_OS) no way I'm using anything other than a normal keyboard, and yes I can use two thumbs and yes it's fast enough.

Matteeboy 22 July 2015 09:27 AM

I have a love/hate relationship with it - I use it on the iPhone without thinking but tend to end up with typos all over the place. My typing speed on the phone is pretty poor - on a Mac it's fairly quick.

I'm trying to use Siri more to "type" text - it seems to be improving all the time.

dpb 22 July 2015 09:27 AM

Oh dear :(

Why?

Anyway, I hardly use my thumbs to type; not even on my external, traditional keyboards. For me, It's one finger typing on my iPhone and two middle fingers from both hands on my iPad. My laptop is Windows with a proper keyboard to it, and tbh I have an external Bluetooth keyboard for my iPad as well. That's helpful when I may have to make long notes.

Can't wait to buy an Apple laptop. It's the cost of it that I couldn't justify so far, for owning it. But I do like the Apple gadget performance, and therefore, I am going to buy one. :thumb:

About Autocorrect, if Freud was alive, he would have called it the twin of your unconscious with slips here and slips there. That explains what the two middle finger typing is about for me, on my iPad. :D

bioforger 22 July 2015 11:36 AM

The thing is TH on my android the autocorrect actually works properly as it learns my typing style and the words that i mostly use. In other words it hardly ever fecks it up like it seems to do all the time on iphones ;)

Yeah, but it still seems to have a problem in the field of the "eye for an eye", though. ;) :D

I understand that it could be a personal style thingy. Telboy had that, too. He had his averse fixation with my generous use of a certain smiley and I had the same with the eye sore of his compulsive 'i'. But hey. Free country. :D

dpb 22 July 2015 12:36 PM

One thumb typing !

That's even worse

Also, we can't see you type, dpb. You could be typing with one finger per letter, as slow as a snail for what we know! :D I've just typed this post at marathon speed with one middle finger of my left hand, because my right hand is holding the device, and I'm a left-hander, anyway. So, one thumb or one finger, if you can type a half readable script at okay speed, what's your problem with it? Why is the thumb in question?

No, he knew what he was doing with that 'i'. He was just irrationally stubborn about it, that's all.

LOL if he reads that, he'll come in and kick off!

Mind you, he could also be an iPhone, iPad and iWatch fanboy due to his extra-ordinary fondness to his 'i', which may mean that he won't get into another "eye for an eye" with me. :lol1:

bioforger 22 July 2015 10:15 PM

It wouldn't surprise me :)

Turbohot 25 July 2015 09:32 PM

Daughter dear just texted me to request a lift from some gig late tonight. I texted back: "OK, just text me when finished and I'll come and dock you."! WTF! I meant "I'll come and pick you", not "dock you"!:brickwall I'm so pleased it didn't autosh@t with "I'll come and d4ck you". That would have been terribly embarassing and my text would have been LOL-ed by her and her mates like something chronic! :(
