I suppose it depends on which side you butter your bread.

Perhaps we should ask OP to score the following attributes 0-10 (10 being good) to help:

:Bragging Rights
:Straight Line performance
:Handling performance
:Handling engagement
:Driftoo / knife edge

Actually surprised a NSX hasnt been mentioned.... I would and I know a friend buying one now :)

Matteeboy 15 July 2015 12:21 PM

As good as they are, an NSX would feel painfully slow. Even my shopping hatch whips one. It's not all about straight line speed but coming from a Spec C to an NSX with zero practicality wouldn't be ideal. IMO.

Shaun 15 July 2015 01:27 PM

Since I have come from a SPEC C and after that a JDM Hawkeye, I find my A45 AMG most enjoyable.

I said on a number of occasions that this is what the new STI should have been. If you're looking for something as a natural evolution from the SPEC C / JDM STI, the A45 could be for you.

Littleted 15 July 2015 03:28 PM

and i just showed my exhaust pipes to a 96k 911 GTS, he tried but could only stay with me :P

ditchmyster 15 July 2015 04:14 PM

I'd go retro, especially with that sort of milage, also get classic insurance and if you just like to admire and polish it, what better than something with sexy old school lines, also get the benefit of it possibly going up in value, Old Porsche or Ferrari.

I did the same with a £140k Aston. Although they are slower than a GTS.

C63's what you want

markspecc 17 July 2015 08:12 PM

BMW M2 ?

That'll be £45k+ I reckon.

kennyc 18 July 2015 11:26 PM

I think R34 GTR or R35 GTR. For that mileage probably sway towards R34

Sarg400 19 July 2015 12:22 AM

Shelby GT500

Blind Side 22 July 2015 10:12 PM

Renaultsport Megane 275 Trophy. In your price bracket, great drivers car & build quality is surprisingly good: http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-d...y-driven/30171

Brun 22 July 2015 11:53 PM

A GTR, a DB9 nah a Megane is where it's at

This.

They sound mental :D would deffo be my choice.

grahamc 23 July 2015 09:55 AM

To those suggesting the C63, have you driven one?

Yes, they sound great from the outside. When I took one for a test drive I was massively underwhelmed by the car. It felt like a normal C class and I had to open the window to hear the noise. Seating position was a little odd (but thats just me), I really hate the foot version of the handbrake and the service from Merc was appalling!!!

I would more than likely overlook all the above if it was for a C63 AMG Black, but not just the C63.

Received great service from Audi (when testing a R8 V10) and Aston (when testing a Vantage S).

You should try a manual with the foot handbrake! What a stupid idea lol:lol1:

RS Grant 25 July 2015 07:21 PM

IMO a feeling of occasion isn't always directly related to a feeling of performance, cutting edge technology or lap times... and most of what I'd consider special enough for 30k+ and <1000miles per year have been covered:

Sierra Cosworth
993 Porsche
964 Porsche
Impreza 22B (I know you've already owned one)
E46 M3 CSL
Audi B5 RS4
Escort Cosworth
R34 GTR
Evo 6 Tommi Mac
Aston Martin V8V
Honda NSX

If you plan to give it a tough time at the occasional trackday then personally, with the exception of the CSL, I'd wince doing it with all of the above and consider one of the following as a base to make some suitable changes to:

E46 M3 CSL
E90 M3
E60 M5 (stretching the 'track-ability' here... but it's got that V10!!)
996 Turbo
R35/GTR
Atom
Caterham

Cheers,
Grant

Yup, driven one and bought one.

You had to open the window to hear the noise?
Man your hearing must be fcuked :)

huzzy1 27 July 2015 09:32 AM

I'm off work on Friday for 5 weeks so if the wife keeps her legs shut and doesn't give birth until the end then I'll be test driving a few marques, GTR, C63 and also a newish M3 has been thrown into the mix.

My car will be up on here on the For Sale board from Saturday.

Would an M4 not be a better option? Im not a BMW person, so just an idea....

Will be interesting to hear what your opinion is on the cars you test, good luck :thumb:

Matteeboy 27 July 2015 09:57 AM

An M4 is double the budget! It needs to be a used E92 M3.
M235 is just about in budget; easy to lightly mod into a bit of a beast; JB4, H&R shocks, LSD.
